Head Count (Australian Rules Football)
Interchange (or, colloquially, the bench or interchange bench) is a team position in Australian rules football, consisting of players who are part of the selected team but are not currently on the field of play. Interchange numbers AFL As of the 2021 season, at AFL level, each team is permitted four interchange players, and a maximum of seventy-five total player interchanges during a game; players have no limit to the number of times they may individually be changed, and an interchange can occur at any time during the game, including during gameplay. Additionally, a fifth bench player is designated a medical substitute, allowed to take the field only to permanently replace a player deemed medically unfit to continue; except with permission from the AFL Medical Officer, a player thus substituted off would be ineligible to play again until at least twelve days later. Dean Galea
Dean Galea (born 11 January 1985) is an Australian Football player. He won the Jim 'Frosty' Miller Medal as the leading goal-kicker in the Victorian Football League in 2012 and 2013, kicking 65 and 55 goals in the respective home and away seasons, when he played with Port Melbourne. Galea, in his first year of senior football, played for Spotswood in the WRFL, and won the Premier division goalkicking award with 82 goals in 2004. Galea then moved to play with Williamstown Football Club for 2005 and 2006. He played in a Seconds premiership with Williamstown in 2005 and finished in equal third place in the Seconds best and fairest award that same year. In 2007 he spent a season with West Adelaide in the SANFL where he kicked 30 goals in 15 senior games. The Sydney Swans are a professional Australian rules football club based in Sydney, New South Wales. Norm Dare
Norman Bernard Dare (born 10 September 1948) is a former Australian rules football coach and player, most notable for coaching five premierships in the Queensland Australian Football League (QAFL). Playing career Dare initially played league football for Fitzroy in the Victorian Football League (VFL), where he played 70 games between 1968 and 1974. He moved to West Torrens in the South Australian National Football League (SANFL) in 1975, most notable for his actions in the Round 15, 1975, match against West Adelaide, when Dare managed to jump the fence and hide amongst the crowd to prevent Torrens from being penalised in a head count. He returned to Fitzroy in 1977, and played only two more senior games before retiring from playing.
