Guanajuato (), officially the Free and Sovereign State of Guanajuato ( es, Estado Libre y Soberano de Guanajuato), is one of the 32 states that make up the Federal Entities of Mexico. It is divided into 46 municipalities and its capital city is Guanajuato. Guanajuato is in central Mexico. It is bordered by the states of Jalisco to the west, Zacatecas to the northwest, San Luis Potosí to the north, Querétaro to the east, and Michoacán to the south. It covers an area of . The state is home to several historically important cities, especially those along the "Bicentennial Route", which retraces the path of Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla's insurgent army at the beginning of the Mexican War of Independence. This route begins at Dolores Hidalgo, and passes through the Sanctuary of Atotonilco, San Miguel de Allende, Celaya, and the capital of Guanajuato. Guanajuato City
Guanajuato () is a city and municipal seat of the municipality of Guanajuato in central Mexico and the capital of the state of the same name. It is part of the macroregion of the Bajío. It is in a narrow valley, which makes its streets narrow and winding. Most are alleys that cars cannot pass through, and some are long sets of stairs up the mountainsides. Many of the city's thoroughfares are partially or fully underground. The historic center has numerous small plazas and colonial-era mansions, churches, and civil constructions built using pink or green sandstone. The city historic center and the adjacent mines were proclaimed a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1988. The growth of Guanajuato resulted from the abundantly available minerals in the mountains surrounding it. Guanajuato is a state in North Central Mexico that is divided into 46 municipalities. According to the 2020 Mexican Census, Guanajuato is the sixth most populous state with inhabitants and the 22nd largest by land area spanning . Municipalities in Guanajuato are administratively autonomous of the state according to the 115th article of the 1917 Constitution of Mexico. Every three years, citizens elect a municipal president (Spanish: ''presidente municipal'') by a plurality voting system who heads a concurrently elected municipal council (''ayuntamiento'') responsible for providing all the public services for their constituents. Diego Sinhué Rodríguez Vallejo
Diego Sinhué Rodríguez Vallejo (born 15 November 1980) is a Mexican politician affiliated with the National Action Party (PAN) who is currently the governor of Guanajuato. He previously represented his state as a federal deputy in the LXII Legislature of the Mexican Congress. Life Sinhué was born in León and received his law degree from the in that city in 2003. He became a PAN member in 2005, sitting on its municipal youth committee and becoming the head of training in the state's third district. Juan Carlos Romero Hicks (Guanajuato, Guanajuato; December 10, 1955) is a Mexican politician and elected official, member of the National Action Party , and a Federal Senator since August 29, 2012.
