American Ornithologists' Union
The American Ornithological Society (AOS) is an ornithological organization based in the United States. The society was formed in October 2016 by the merger of the American Ornithologists' Union (AOU) and the Cooper Ornithological Society. Its members are primarily professional ornithologists, although membership is open to anyone with an interest in birds. The society publishes the two scholarly journals, ''The Auk'' and '' The Condor'' as well as the ''AOS Checklist of North American Birds''. In 2013, the American Ornithologists' Union announced a close partnership with the Cooper Ornithological Society, including joint meetings, a centralized publishing office, and a refocusing of their respective journals to increase efficiency of research. The grey-fronted quail-dove (''Geotrygon caniceps'') is a species of bird in the family Columbidae. It is endemic to Cuba. Taxonomy and systematics The grey-fronted quail-dove and most of what are now the other species in genus ''Geotrygon'' were previously in genus ''Oreopeleia''. In addition, it was considered conspecific with what is now the white-fronted quail-dove (''Geotrygon leucometopia'') under the name "grey-headed quail-dove". Though the taxomomies of the North American Classification Committee of the American Ornithological Society (AOS), the International Ornithological Committee (IOC), and Clements use the English name "grey-fronted quail-dove" for the current ''G. caniceps'', the ''Handbook of the Birds of the World'' retains the pre-split "grey-headed quail-dove" name for it.Clements, J. Hispaniola
Hispaniola (, also ; es, La Española; Latin and french: Hispaniola; ht, Ispayola; tnq, Ayiti or Quisqueya) is an island in the Caribbean that is part of the Greater Antilles.
