The Governor of Sevastopol (russian: Губернатор Севастополя; uk, Губернатор Севастополя) is head of the executive branch of the political system in the city of Sevastopol. The governor's office administers all city services, public property, police and fire protection, most public agencies, and enforces all city and state laws within Sevastopol. The governor's office is located on Lenin Street. It has jurisdiction over all districts of Sevastopol. The governor appoints many officials, including Directors who head city departments, and his or her deputy governors. Prior to the annexation of Sevastopol by Russia in 2014, the city administrator was called the Chairman of Sevastopol City State Administration, and often referred to as the Mayor of Sevastopol. Aleksey Samuilovich Greig (russian: Алексе́й Самуи́лович Грейг) (6 September 1775 – 18 January 1845), born into the noble Greig family, was an admiral of the Imperial Russian Navy. Born in Kronstadt, he was the son of Admiral Samuel Greig (1735–1788, then Governor of Kronstadt), brother-in-law of Mary Somerville, and father of General Samuil Greig (1827–1887), Russian Minister of Finance. Jean Baptiste Prevost de Sansac, marquis de Traversay (24 July 1754 – 19 May 1831) was a naval officer of French creole origins who distinguished himself in the ranks of Royal French Navy during the American Revolutionary War. In 1791, fleeing from the French Revolution, Traversay joined the Imperial Russian Navy, rising to commander-in-chief of the Black Sea Fleet in 1802.
