Front Controller
The front controller software design pattern is listed in several pattern catalogs and is related to the design of web applications. It is "a controller that handles all requests for a website," which is a useful structure for web application developers to achieve flexibility and reuse without code redundancy. Instruction Front controllers are often used in web applications to implement workflows. While not strictly required, it is much easier to control navigation across a set of related pages (for instance, multiple pages used in an online purchase) from a front controller than it is to assign individual pages responsibility for navigation. The front controller may be implemented as a Java object, or as a script in a scripting language such as PHP, Raku, Python or Ruby that is called for every request of a web session. This script would handle all tasks that are common to the application or the framework, such as session handling, caching and input filtering. Based on the ...

Software Design Pattern
In software engineering, a software design pattern or design pattern is a general, reusable solution to a commonly occurring problem in many contexts in software design. A design pattern is not a rigid structure to be transplanted directly into source code. Rather, it is a description or a template for solving a particular type of problem that can be deployed in many different situations. Design patterns can be viewed as formalized best practices that the programmer may use to solve common problems when designing a software application or system. Object-oriented design patterns typically show relationships and interactions between classes or objects, without specifying the final application classes or objects that are involved. Patterns that imply mutable state may be unsuited for functional programming languages. Some patterns can be rendered unnecessary in languages that have built-in support for solving the problem they are trying to solve, and object-oriented patterns are no ...

Mediator Pattern
In software engineering, the mediator pattern defines an object that Encapsulation (computer programming), encapsulates how a set of objects interact. This pattern is considered to be a behavioral pattern due to the way it can alter the program's running behavior. In object-oriented programming, programs often consist of many class (computer science), classes. Business logic and computation are distributed among these classes. However, as more classes are added to a program, especially during Software maintenance, maintenance and/or refactoring, the problem of communication between these classes may become more complex. This makes the program harder to read and maintain. Furthermore, it can become difficult to change the program, since any change may affect code in several other classes. With the mediator pattern, communication between objects is encapsulated within a mediator object. Objects no longer communicate directly with each other, but instead communicate through the media ...

Haskell (programming Language)
Haskell () is a General-purpose programming language, general-purpose, static typing, statically typed, purely functional programming, purely functional programming language with type inference and lazy evaluation. Designed for teaching, research, and industrial applications, Haskell pioneered several programming language #Features, features such as type classes, which enable type safety, type-safe operator overloading, and Monad (functional programming), monadic input/output (IO). It is named after logician Haskell Curry. Haskell's main implementation is the Glasgow Haskell Compiler (GHC). Haskell's Semantics (computer science), semantics are historically based on those of the Miranda (programming language), Miranda programming language, which served to focus the efforts of the initial Haskell working group. The last formal specification of the language was made in July 2010, while the development of GHC continues to expand Haskell via language extensions. Haskell is used in a ...

Yesod (web Framework)
Yesod (; , "Foundation") is a web framework based on the programming language Haskell for productive development of type-safe, representational state transfer (REST) model based (where uniform resource locators (URLs) identify resources, and Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP) methods identify transitions), high performance web applications, developed by Michael Snoyman, et al. It is free and open-source software released under an MIT License. Yesod is based on templates, to generate instances for listed entities, and dynamic content process functions, through Template Haskell constructs to host domain-specific language (eDSL) content templates called QuasiQuotes, where the content is translated into code expressions by metaprogramming instructions. There are also web-like language snippet templates that admit code expression interpolations, making them fully type-checked at compile time. Yesod divides its functions in separate libraries (database, html rendering, forms, etc.) ...

CodeIgniter
CodeIgniter is a free and open-source software rapid development web framework, for use in building dynamic web sites with PHP. Popularity CodeIgniter is loosely based on the popular model–view–controller (MVC) development pattern. While controller classes are a necessary part of development under CodeIgniter, models and views are optional. CodeIgniter can be also modified to use Hierarchical Model View Controller (HMVC) which allows the developers to maintain modular grouping of Controller, Models and View arranged in a sub-directory format. CodeIgniter is most often noted for its speed when compared to other PHP frameworks. In a critical take on PHP frameworks in general, PHP creator Rasmus Lerdorf spoke at frOSCon in August 2008, noting that he liked CodeIgniter "''because it is faster, lighter and the least like a framework.''" Source code and license CodeIgniter's source code is maintained at GitHub, and as of the preview version 3.0rc, is certified open source softw ...
