Floorball
Floorball is a type of floor hockey with five players and a goalkeeper in each team. Men and women play indoors with sticks and a plastic ball with holes. Matches are played in three twenty-minute periods. The sport of bandy also played a role in the game's development. The game was invented in Sweden in the late 1960s. The International Floorball Federation (IFF) is the worldwide governing body for the sport of floorball. It was founded on 12 April 1986 in Huskvarna, Sweden, by representatives from the national floorball associations of Finland, Sweden and Switzerland. F-liiga
The F-liiga is the top men’s floorball league in Finland. The league was founded as Salibandyn SM-sarja (English: Floorball Finnish Champions-Series) in 1986 by the Finnish Floorball Federation (SSBL). It was renamed to Salibandyliiga for the 1994–95 season. The ''Salibandyliiga'' was operated by the company ''SSBL Salibandy Oy'', a subsidiary of the Finnish Floorball Federation. The current name F-liiga is used since season 2020–21. The champion of the league is eligible to compete at the Champions Cup. Format Regular season The regular season is played in a round robin format with each team playing 26 games. The total number of regular season games is 182. The United States Floorball Association (USFbA) is the highest governing body for floorball in the United States of America. The USFbA is a self-governed organization, recognized by both state and federal governments. It is based in Incline Village, NV. Organization The USFbA is divided into 14 regional branches. Each regional branch has a director who is in charge of floorball for that region. The USFbA has been a member of the International Floorball Federation (IFF) since 1993. The Lidl Unihockey Prime League is the highest league in Swiss floorball. Between the season 2007/08 and 2012/13 the league was called ''Swiss Mobiliar League'' (SML). It was named after the insurance company ''Mobiliar''. Since the Season 2022/23 it is called Lidl Unihockey Prime League (L-UPL). Prior to 2007 and between 2013 and 2022 it was called Nationalliga A (NLA). The men's L-UPL is composed of twelve teams and the women's league of ten teams (eight until season 2016/17). Swedish Super League ( sv, Svenska Superligan för herrar; formerly, ''Elitserien'') is the highest league in the league system of Swedish floorball and comprises the top 14 Swedish floorball teams. The first season began in 1995–96. The season ends with a play-off and a final. The champion of the league is eligible to compete at the Champions Cup. History The Swedish Super League was founded in 1995 under the name Elitserien. It then replaced the Division 1 league as the high level floorball league of Sweden. Floor Hockey
Floor hockey is a broad term for several indoor floor game codes which involve two teams using a stick and type of ball or disk. Disks are either open or closed but both designs are usually referred to as "pucks". These games are played either on foot or with wheeled skates.
