John Curry
John Anthony Curry, (9 September 1949 – 15 April 1994) was a British figure skater. He was the 1976 European, Olympic and World Champion. He was noted for combining ballet and modern dance influences into his skating. Early life Curry was born on 9 September 1949 in Birmingham, England. He had two older brothers. He was educated at Solihull School, an independent school in the West Midlands and prior to this, at St Andrews, an independent boarding school in Somerset. As a child, Curry wanted to become a dancer, but his father disapproved of dance as an activity for boys. As a compromise, in 1957, he began to take figure skating lessons under the guidance of Ken Vickers at the Summerhill Road rink in Birmingham. Skating career After his father died from suicide when John was 16, he moved to London to study with Arnold Gerschwiler, who coached him to his first British title in 1971. David Santee
David Neil Santee (born July 22, 1957 in Oak Park, Illinois) is an American former competitive figure skater. He finished fourth in the 1980 Winter Olympics in Lake Placid, and is the 1981 World silver medalist and an eight-time U.S. national medalist. He competed at the Winter Olympics twice. Santee cited the movie “Rocky” as an inspiration and often skated to its theme music, earning himself the nickname “Rocky on Ice.” His younger brother James Santee was also an elite-level skater. David was inducted to both the U.S. Figure Skating and ISI Hall of Fame in 2015. He achieved the PSA Master Coach's rating in 2017. Santee is an ISU Technical Specialist. He also works as a coach. Ron Shaver
Ronald "Ron" Shaver (born June 16, 1951 in Galt, Ontario) is a Canadian former competitive figure skater. He is a two-time Skate Canada International champion and the 1977 Canadian national champion. Career Shaver won the novice title at the 1966 Canadian Championships, the first year that level was contested at the national championships. After winning the senior silver medal at the 1973 Canadian Nationals, he was sent to Bratislava, Czechoslovakia to compete at his first World Championships; he finished eighth overall after placing 12th in figures, sixth in the short program, and fourth in the free skate. Stanislav "Stan" Bohonek (born December 28, 1952) is a Canadian former competitive figure skater. He represented Canada at the 1976 Winter Olympics in Innsbruck. Early life Stanislav Bohonek was born December 28, 1952, in Prague, Czechoslovakia. His brother, Jan, was born about three years later. The family moved to Toronto, Ontario, Canada in 1968 due to the Warsaw Pact invasion of Czechoslovakia. Skating career and later life Bohonek competed mainly in single skating. Robin Cousins, MBE (born 17 August 1957) is a British former competitive figure skater who was BBC Sports Personality of the Year in 1980. He was the 1980 Olympic champion, the 1980 European champion, a three-time World medalist (1978–1980) and four-time British national champion (1977–1980), winning all of these titles during his amateur career. He followed this with a successful career as a professional figure skater and later starred in ice shows as well as producing several of his own.
