Funk Fingers
{{No inline, date=March 2022 Funk Fingers are a kind of drumstick that attach to the fingers of a bass player for producing percussive, funky sounds on a bass guitar. They were created by Tony Levin ( Peter Gabriel, King Crimson, Liquid Tension Experiment) and his guitar tech, Andy Moore. The aim was to recreate the effect of drumming on the strings of one’s bass as done by drummer Jerry Marotta for Peter Gabriel’s song “ Big Time” when recording the album '' So''. They later appeared on the songs “ Steam” and “Secret World”, also by Peter Gabriel, and Levin can be seen playing them on the video and DVD release ''Secret World Live''. Levin's record and publishing company, Papa Bear Records, briefly made Funk Fingers available for sale to other players, making a run of them in 1998/1999, but as of July 1999 had sold completely out of them and did not plan to manufacture them again. Brian Patrick Carroll (born May 13, 1969), known professionally as Buckethead, is an American guitarist, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist. He has received critical acclaim for his innovative electric guitar playing. His music spans several genres, including progressive metal, funk, blues, bluegrass, ambient, and avant-garde music. Bruford Levin Upper Extremities
Bruford Levin Upper Extremities (B.L.U.E.) was a musical group consisting of drummer Bill Bruford, bassist Tony Levin, guitarist David Torn, and trumpeter Chris Botti. The group's origins can be traced to Torn's ECM Records album ''Cloud About Mercury'' (1987), which featured Levin and Bruford (along with Mark Isham playing trumpet). Enjoying the chemistry in their work together, the musicians kept in touch with one another, and formed B.L.U.E. in the late 1990s under Bruford and Levin’s joint leadership. Chris Botti took the trumpeter’s role instead of Isham, who was touring with his own band at the time. The band blended an unusual combination of elements including jazz, blues, rock and ambient music to create a unique sound. Bruford and Levin had both been longtime members of King Crimson. ''Anderson Bruford Wakeman Howe'' is the only studio album by the English progressive rock band Anderson Bruford Wakeman Howe, released in June 1989 on Arista Records. Background and recording The project began in 1988. At that time vocalist Jon Anderson had felt artistically constrained within Yes's current format, where the songwriting of Trevor Rabin had taken the band in a commercially very successful but musically and lyrically different direction. Anderson regrouped with Steve Howe, Rick Wakeman and Bill Bruford. Bruford, who had at various times been a member of King Crimson, recruited his Crimson bandmate Tony Levin as their bassist. The group was unable to use the name Yes for legal reasons. However, the group did have Arista assign the catalog number of 90126 to the original releases of the CD and cassette. Anderson Bruford Wakeman Howe was an English progressive rock band active from 1988 to 1990 that comprised four past members of the English progressive rock band Yes. Singer Jon Anderson left Yes as he felt increasingly constrained by their commercial and pop-oriented direction in the 1980s. He began an album with other members from the band's 1970s era: guitarist Steve Howe, keyboardist Rick Wakeman, and drummer Bill Bruford, plus bassist Tony Levin (Bruford's bandmate in King Crimson). The group released their only studio album, ''Anderson Bruford Wakeman Howe'', in June 1989 which reached number 14 in the UK and number 30 in the US. ''Resonator'' is a 2006 album by Tony Levin. The album is significantly different from Levin's previous solo efforts mainly due to the introduction of lead vocals on most of the tracks as well as an overall more rock-oriented sound. The song "Utopia" originally appeared on an earlier Levin album ''Waters of Eden'' as an instrumental piece. The new version adds vocals and a guitar solo by Toto guitarist Steve Lukather. "Throw the God a Bone" features a guest performance by King Crimson singer/guitarist Adrian Belew. ''Secret World Live'' is the second live album and tenth album overall by the English rock musician Peter Gabriel, released on 30 August 1994 in the UK. The album documents the concert experience of the Secret World Tour. A concert film of the same name was released simultaneously. Its track listing omits " Red Rain" and adds "San Jacinto" after "Blood of Eden". Cover artwork The artwork for the album cover was directed by Michael Colson and co-ordinated by Martha Ladly (formerly of Martha and the Muffins) who was working for Gabriel at the time, with cover images by Fab 4 and Danny Jenkins.
