Football in Kosovo is governed by the Football Federation of Kosovo, which was created in , as a branch of the Yugoslav Football Association. Prishtina, is the club from Kosovo with most participations in the Yugoslav First League. Football is the most popular sport in Kosovo. The Football Superleague of Kosovo is the top division of football in Kosovo. The division was set up in 1945 as a regional league within the Yugoslav football league system. In 2008, Kosovo declared its independence from Serbia. Until 2016, membership in UEFA and FIFA had been denied due to Kosovo's disputed recognition as an independent state. However, Kosovo was also not a member of the NF Board, which represents non-FIFA territories, including unrepresented cultural groups and unrecognized states. Football Federation Of Kosovo
The Football Federation of Kosovo ( sq, Federata e Futbollit e Kosovës; FFK) is the governing body of football in Kosovo, with headquarters in Pristina. The Football Federation of Kosovo was established in 1946 as a branch of the Football Association of Yugoslavia, it has since become independent and was headed by Fadil Vokrri until his sudden death in 2018. Albanian Superliga
The Kategoria Superiore, officially known as Abissnet Superiore for sponsorship reasons, is a professional league for men's association football clubs. At the top of the Albanian football league system, it is the country's primary football competition. It is contested by 10 clubs, and operates on a system of promotion and relegation with the Kategoria e Parë. Seasons run from August to May, with teams playing 36 matches each (playing each team in the league four times, twice at home and twice away). The competition was founded in 1930 as the Albanian National Championship during the reign of King Zog, shortly after the creation of the Albanian Football Association. Stevan Stojanović
Stevan Stojanović ( sr-cyr, Стеван Стојановић; born 29 October 1964) is a retired Serbian Association football, football Goalkeeper (association football), goalkeeper best known for captaining Red Star Belgrade side which won the 1991 European Cup Final. Club career He came through Red Star's youth ranks. He spent a couple of seasons as a substitute to Yugoslav internationals like Tomislav Ivković and Živan Ljukovčan before debuting in the 1986–87 Yugoslav First League, 1986-87 season. Kujtim Shala
Kujtim Shala ( hr, Kujtim Šalja; born 13 July 1964) is a Croatian-Albanian former professional footballer who played as a midfielder. International career Shala played his one and only match for the Croatia national football team in a 2–1 win against the US on 17 October 1990, during a friendly match before the Croatian Football Federation was affiliated by FIFA in 1992. Coaching career Shala was the head coach of FC Prishtina in Kosovar Superliga. But after FC Prishtina failed to win the Kosovar Superliga, he was sacked. Ardian Kozniku (born 27 October 1967) is a Kosovan-Croatian professional football coach and former player who most recently was the assistant manager of Al Faisaly. Playing career Club He started his career at Vëllaznimi from Gjakova and was later picked up by Prishtina. He moved to Croatian side Hajduk Split in 1990 and played there until 1994, scoring 90 goals in 169 games in all competitions for them. Agim Cana (born 29 September 1956) is a Kosovan former professional footballer who played as a midfielder. He represented Yugoslavia internationally at youth level. Personal life Cana was born in Đakovica, Yugoslavia (modern-day Gjakova, Kosovo) on 29 September 1956, to a Kosovar Albanian family. He is the father of Lorik Cana. He has Turkish citizenship. Isa Sadriu
Isa Sadriu (; born 27 December 1963) is a former Kosovo Albanian footballer. Playing career Club After playing with FK Trepča in the Yugoslav Second League since 1981, his talent was spotted by FK Partizan who brought him to their team during the winter break of the 1985–86 Yugoslav First League season. He played a total of 72 matches for Partizan, 22 of which were league ones. He left in the following winter having won two national championships during his year in Belgrade, and has joined FC Prishtina who was at that time the only top flight club from SAP Kosovo. Fadil Vokrri
Fadil Avdullah Vokrri ( sh-Latn-Cyrl, separator=" / ", Fadilj Avdulah Vokri, Фадиљ Авдулах Вокри; 23 July 1960 – 9 June 2018) was a yugoslavian football player and administrator of albanian origin. Arguably one of the greatest Kosovan footballers, he was the president of the Football Federation of Kosovo from 16 February 2008, until his death on 9 June 2018. Early life Born in Podujevo, SFR Yugoslavia, Vokrri was known for his Diego Maradona-like approach with quick movement and strong shooting (where he established his strong shooting reputation at FC Prishtina). Fahrudin Jusufi ( sr-Cyrl, Фахрудин Јусуфи, ; 8 December 1939 – 9 August 2019) was a Yugoslav footballer who most notably played for Partizan, Eintracht Frankfurt and the Yugoslav national team. Playing career Club career Jusufi was born into an ethnic Gorani family in the village of Zli Potok near Dragaš (Vardar Banovina, Kingdom of Yugoslavia, present-day Serbia).
