Fireside (LDS Church)
A fireside is a supplementary, evening meeting in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church). The term "fireside" was first used in the 1930s for a variety of such meetings in the LDS Church. The official use of the term has been discontinued and largely replaced with "devotional" or "discussion", but "fireside" continues to be used informally by members. Firesides are commonly held for a subset of members (youth, Young Single Adults, Single Adults, quorums, wards, etc.) of a congregation or congregations in an area. A fireside is most commonly held on Sunday evenings, but may be held any day of the week. They are often held in a meetinghouse, Institute of Religion, or a personal residence, depending on the number of people expected to attend. Single adult is a term used in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church) to describe any unmarried person age 18 or older. A more specific term of 'young single adult' (YSA) describes singles ages 18–30. Single adult Single adult generally refers to unmarried adults age 31 and older in the LDS Church. Quorum (Latter Day Saints)
In the Latter Day Saint movement, a quorum is a group of people ordained or endowed with priesthood authority, and organized to act together as a body. The idea of a ''quorum'' was established by Joseph Smith early in the history of the movement, and during his lifetime it has included several church-wide quorums, including the First Presidency, the Presiding High Council, the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, the Anointed Quorum, and the Quorum of the Seventy, as well as numerous local quorums for each congregation. The Council of Fifty, or General Council, was not part of the church, but a quorum-like body designed as a forerunner to establishing a theocratic government. Stake (Mormonism)
A stake is an administrative unit composed of multiple congregations in certain denominations of the Latter Day Saint movement. The name "stake" derives from the Book of Isaiah: "enlarge the place of thy tent; stretch forth the curtains of thine habitation; spare not, lengthen thy cords, and strengthen thy stakes" (Isaiah 54:2).
