Exton is a village and civil parish north-east of Dulverton and south-west of Dunster in Somerset, England. It lies on the River Exe on Exmoor. The parish includes the village of Bridgetown and covers 2,017 ha, all of which is within the national park. History The parish of Exton was part of the Williton and Freemanners Hundred. Edbrooke Bridge over the River Exe is medieval in origin. In the Middle Ages the manor passed with the forestership of the Royal Forest of Exmoor, later being owned by the Rollers and then the Siderfins of Croydon who sold it in 1700, following a private Act of parliament in 1698. Exton is a village in East Devon, Devon, England, situated on the east bank of the River Clyst, as it flows through the wider Exe Estuary. The A376 road passes through the east side of the village. Exton railway station is a railway station serving the village of Exton in Devon, England. It is situated on the Avocet Line which runs between Exeter St Davids and Exmouth. History A station known as Woodbury Road opened with the railway on 1 May 1861; It was renamed Exton on 15 Sept 1958 and became Exton Halt on 28 February 1965 but has since lost the "halt" suffix in common with most similar stations. Its location on the banks of the River Exe was exploited for many years by placing a camping coach in the goods yard that could be hired by holidaymakers. Exton is a small village and civil parish in the City of Winchester district of Hampshire, England. The village lies in the South Downs National Park, on the west bank of the River Meon, immediately to the north of Corhampton. It is located two miles north of Droxford and five miles north-east of Bishop's Waltham. Its name first appears in 940 as ''East Seaxnatune'', meaning "farmstead of the East Saxons". The parish straddles the Meon Valley, including higher ground of the South Downs to either side, with Old Winchester Hill to the east and the southern part of Beacon Hill (shared with Warnford parish) to the west. Exton is a village in Rutland, England. The population was 607 at the 2011 census. The civil parish was abolished in 2016 and merged with Horn to form Exton and Horn. The village The village's name means 'farm/settlement which has oxen'. The village includes a tree-planted green overlooked by the Fox and Hounds pub.
