Ford Quint Elvidge
Ford Quint Elvidge (November 20, 1892 – July 14, 1980) was an American attorney who was governor of Guam from 1953 to 1956. Early life Elvidge was born November 30, 1892, in Oakland, California. He spent his early years in Oakland before moving with his parents and brother in 1911 to Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. Career Elvidge was an attorney in Seattle, Washington when, in January 1953, President of the United States, President Dwight D. Eisenhower appointed Elvidge to be the second civilian List of governors of Guam, governor of Guam from April 23, 1953, to May 19, 1956. As governor, Elvidge improved Guam's Education in Guam, school system. He also cut spending while improving the efficiency of many departments. Elvidge resigned in 1956. John Elvidge
Sir John William Elvidge KCB, FRSE (born 9 February 1951) is the former Permanent Secretary to the Scottish Government. He was appointed in July 2003, replacing Sir Muir Russell. He retired from the post in June 2010. Early life He was born on 9 February 1951, son of Herbert William Elvidge and Irene Teresa Reynolds, and educated at Sir George Monoux School in Walthamstow, North- East London. He studied English language and literature at St Catherine's College, Oxford, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree. In 1973, he joined the Civil Service, working in the Scottish Office. June Elvidge
June Elvidge (June 30, 1893 – May 1, 1965) was an early 20th-century silent film actress. She was of English and Irish descent. Biography Born in St. Paul, Minnesota, Elvidge attended Pennsylvania College and was a concert singer before she began acting. Elvidge debuted in ''Passing Show of 1914'', produced by Sam Shubert at the Winter Garden Theatre in New York City. She worked there for two years. She is noted for playing roles as a vamp in silent movies such as ''The Lure of Woman'' (1915) and ''The Poison Pen'' (1919). On Broadway, Elvidge portrayed Nina Romaine in ''The Girl in the Spotlight'' (1920). Elvidge began working in films with the World Film stock company in 1915.
