Düsseldorf-Eller
Eller is an urban quarter of Düsseldorf, part of Borough 8. It is located southeast of the city centre. Eller has been a part of Düsseldorf since the year 1909. It has an area of , and 31,153 inhabitants (2020). History Archeological findings tell of a continuous settlement in Eller up from the second century A.D. There are no indications if it were originally a Roman or Germanic settlement. Eller was recorded first time in 1218 as "Elnere" in a register of the convent of Gerresheim. In 1151 there was a knight mentioned as Gumpert of Elnere as a sub reeve of the reeve of Hitdorf. He was witness for the City rights of Düsseldorf in 1288. Nucleus of Eller is today's Alt-Eller (Old Eller). The neighbouring castle of Eller was mentioned first time in 1309 and enlarged in 1469. It was knocked down in 1826, except for the tower and substituted by a new castle. Ediger-Eller is an ''Ortsgemeinde'' – a municipality belonging to a ''Verbandsgemeinde'', a kind of collective municipality – in the Cochem-Zell district in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. It belongs to the ''Verbandsgemeinde'' of Cochem, whose seat is in the like-named town. Geography Ediger-Eller lies on the river Moselle. The constituent community of Eller is found at the foot of the Calmont. History The two constituent communities have a history that, according to a documentary mention, stretches at least as far back as the year 639. Eller (sculpture)
Eller is a 1979 sculpture by Metin Yurdanur located in the Abdi İpekçi Park in Ankara. The sculpture was made by Metin Yurdanur in 1979 for the Abdi İpekçi Park. About the sculpture, Yurdanur stated "i see the hands as part of the brain and the eyes." The sculpture is made from poured concrete over a metal construction. It was initiated as part of an initiative towards the end of the 70's by the Mayor of the Ankara Municipality, Ali Dinçer. The initiative aimed to put sculptures free in topic around the public spaces of the city. The last pouring of the concrete for the sculpture was done before the 12 September coup. Yurdanur was worried, particularly due to the warm temperature at the time, that he would not be able to water the concrete due to the ban on going outside during the coup. As soon as the ban was lifted he went to water the concrete. The sculpture was renovated/refreshed by Yurdanur himself, 43 years after its initial opening. Yurdanur stated that "It is i ... Metin Yurdanur
Metin Yurdanur (born 1951) is a sculptor based in Turkey, who was awarded the title State Artist of Turkey. Early years Yurdanur was born in 1951 in Sivrihisar town of Eskişehir Province in Turkey. He spent his childhood until high school in his hometown. He was impressed by antique works of art, especially by the three-millennium old Phrygian reliefs, that inspired him for plastic arts. After finishing the high school, he enrolled as a boarding student in the Department of Arts at Gazi Institute for Education in Ankara, what is today the Faculty of Vocational Education at Gazi University. He was educated in arts and graduated in 1972 as a high school teacher for arts. He was appointed in Isparta, where in 1973 he made a monument of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk in commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the foundation of the Republic. Eller Beck
The Eller Beck is a small river in North Yorkshire, England, that flows through the town of Skipton and is a tributary of the River Aire. Its channel was heavily modified to supply water to mills in the 18th and 19th centuries, and although all the mills have closed, the water now supplies power to the National Grid, generated by a turbine at High Corn Mill. The beck flows through several underground culverts in Skipton that contribute to the flood risk. To alleviate flooding in Skipton town centre, a scheme involving two flood water storage reservoirs was designed and eventually completed in 2017. Course Eller Beck is formed by streams that rise in the hills to the north of Skipton. They include Black Sike, which rises above the contour on Out Fell, to the west of Upper Barden Reservoir, and several more which rise in Bilton Ings, close to the contour, to the south west of the reservoir.
