Kirk Ella
Kirk Ella is a village and civil parish on the western outskirts of Kingston upon Hull, approximately west of the city centre, situated in the East Riding of Yorkshire, England. The parish includes West Ella. Kirk Ella has been a village since at least the 11th century: it remained a relatively unimportant hamlet until the 18th and 19th centuries, when it became a location of choice for merchants of Hull wishing to live outside the city. Several large houses were built during this period, without any substantial increase in village population. After the 1920s, the village grew substantially, with large amounts of high quality housing surrounding the traditional village centre. The village continued to grow during the second half of the 20th century, becoming a large suburb, contiguous with Anlaby and Willerby. The civil parish is called "Kirk Ella and West Ella". Geography Kirk Ella is primarily residential, but has a few shops. Modern Kirk Ella is contiguous w ...

Ella (name)
Ella is most often used as a feminine given name, but also occurs as a surname, especially in Australia. In Greek mythology, Ella (Greek: Ἕλλα) was the daughter of Athamas and Nephele. The name may be a cognate with Hellas (Greek: Ἑλλάς), the Greek name for Greece, which said to have been originally the name of the region round Dodona. Another source indicates the name is a Norman version of the Germanic short name ''Alia'', which was short for a variety of German names with the element ''ali''-, meaning "other." It is also a common short name for names starting with ''El''-, such as Eleanor, Elizabeth, Elle, Ellen, Elaine, Ellie, or Eloise. The Hebrew word Ella (אלה) has two meanings: 1) A tree indigenous to the Middle East, of the pistachio family (''Pistacia terebinthus''). As written in Isaiah 6-13: "And though a tenth remains in the land, it will again be laid waste. But as the terebinth and oak leave stumps when they are cut down, so the holy seed will be ...

Lake Ella
Lake Ella is a lake in central Tallahassee, Florida on US 27 just south of Tharpe Street, and just north of Downtown. Lake Ella has an area of 12 acres (49,000 m2). Once used for cattle, it now has three fountains and is used for recreation, flood protection, and stormwater pollution control. In 1867 some 2000 "freedmen" gathered there for a day-long political rally. In the early 20th century Lake Ella became part of the "Old Spanish Trail", a coast-to-coast highway extending from San Diego to St. Augustine, Fl. This was one of a network of named roads, so named to promote tourism. On the west bank of the lake are several cottages that were once part of the Tallahassee Motor Hotel, a hotel opened by Gilbert S. Chandler in 1925 to cater to this tourist trade. Ella (novel)
''Ella'', or ''Ella: A Psychic Thriller'', is a science fiction novel by Israeli illusionist and self-proclaimed psychic Uri Geller, first published in 1998. The novel tells the story of Ella Wallis, an abused 14-year-old girl living in Bristol, England, who develops telekinesis, levitation, and other psychic powers and achieves fame while at the midst of a power struggle between adults who want to control her. Background The book's themes marked a change for Geller, moving his focus away from illusions such as spoon bending and onto the power of prayer. As part of his research for the novel, Geller spent two days at Saint Catherine's Monastery, at the foot of Mount Sinai. Geller said in an interview with ''Heinz Heise, Heise Online'' that he gave powers to Ella that he did have, but always wanted, and noted that a lot of the plot within the book that covered poor public relations stunts and news media, bad press was inspired by the reactions he himself had received over the ye ...

Pafuera Telarañas
''Pafuera Telarañas'' (English: ''Out with the Spiderwebs'') is the debut album by Spanish artist Bebe. It was released in 2004 and contains six released singles along with other tracks. Composition The album was noted for its combination of musical styles, including flamenco, electronica, and pop. "Ella" ("She") has been described as a "female power anthem", and has also been interpreted as a protest against gender violence. She told ''El Asombrario & Co.'' that she wrote the song after the death of "a very important person in my life". "Malo" ("Bad") follows a woman who begs her husband to stop abusing her, for the sake of herself and their child; at the end of the song, she leaves him. She wrote the song four years before its release, after seeing many news stories about domestic violence, sometimes as many as three in a single day; although she had never experienced domestic violence herself, she felt empathy for those who did, and so wrote "Malo". In 2005, she told ''Billb ...
