Electoral District Of Yuroke
The electoral district of Yuroke was an electoral district of the Victorian Legislative Assembly. It was situated in the outer northern suburbs of Melbourne and was created in a redistribution before the 2002 Victorian general election, 2002 state election, replacing the former electorate of electoral district of Tullamarine, Tullamarine. Included within its boundaries were Attwood, Victoria, Attwood, Craigieburn, Victoria, Craigieburn, Greenvale, Victoria, Greenvale, Kalkallo, Victoria, Kalkallo, Mickleham, Victoria, Mickleham and Yuroke, Victoria, Yuroke, as well as parts of Roxburgh Park, Victoria, Roxburgh Park, Somerton, Victoria, Somerton, and Westmeadows, Victoria, Westmeadows. It was considered to be a very safe Australian Labor Party (Victorian Branch), Labor Party seat. Ros Spence
Rosalind Louise Spence (born 16 December 1970) is an Australian politician. She has been a Labor Party member of the Victorian Legislative Assembly since November 2014, representing Yuroke from 2014 to 2022, then Kalkallo from 2022 onwards. Spence is presently the Minister for Prevention of Family Violence, Community Sport and Suburban Development in the Third Andrews Ministry. Early life, education and career Spence was raised in Eltham and graduated from Eltham High School in 1988. She later graduating with a Bachelor of Laws and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Tasmania in 2002. Prior to her election to Parliament, Spence worked as an electorate officer to various state and federal Members of Parliament, as operations manager for the Victorian branch of the Australian Labor Party, and as a volunteer solicitor at the Broadmeadows Legal Centre. Roxburgh Park is a suburb in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, north of Melbourne's Central Business District, located within the City of Hume local government area. Roxburgh Park recorded a population of 24,129 at the 2021 census. The suburb is bound by Craigieburn to the north, to the west by Aitken Boulevard skirting the Greenvale Reservoir, to the east by the Craigieburn railway line and to the south by Somerton Road. History Originally part of Somerton, Roxburgh Park gets its name from the property "Roxburgh", which was named by local farmer Thomas Brunton in about 1885, after his house in Scotland. Prior to the construction of Roxburgh Park, the area was the subject of a design by architect Philip Treeby for a garden suburb called "Hopetoun" in 1889. Plans for the suburb included parks, schools, tennis courts and shops. The early 1890s economic depression prevented the construction of this design. Liz Beattie
Elizabeth Jean Beattie is a former Australian politician. She was a Labor Party member of the Victorian Legislative Assembly from 1999 to 2014. She represented the electorate of Yuroke from 2002; she previously represented the abolished electorate of Tullamarine. She was the Parliamentary Secretary assisting the Premier on Multicultural Affairs and Veteran Affairs in the Brumby Labor Government. Beattie was born in the Melbourne suburb of Richmond. Prior to entering politics, she worked as an office manager for the Australian Services Union from 1994 to 1996, and as a building manager at Melbourne Trades Hall from 1996 until her election to parliament in 1999.
