Electoral District Of Joondalup
Joondalup is an electoral district of the Legislative Assembly in the Australian state of Western Australia. The district is located in the northern suburbs of Perth. Joondalup has tended to be a marginal seat. Geography The district lies in Perth's outer north, taking in areas west of Lake Joondalup. The seat includes the suburbs of Connolly, Edgewater, Joondalup, Heathridge, Ocean Reef, Iluka as well as part of the suburb of Currambine. History Joondalup was first created for the 1983 state election when it was won by Labor candidate Jackie Watkins, who held the seat for two terms. Joondalup was abolished and replaced by the new seat of Wanneroo ahead of the 1989 state election, at which point Watkins became the member for Wanneroo. Emily Hamilton (politician)
Emily Louise Hamilton (born 14 January 1985) is an Australian politician. She has been a Labor member of the Western Australian Legislative Assembly since the 2017 state election, representing the electorate of Joondalup. Early life and education Hamilton was born in Perth in 1985, the eldest of five children, to David and Angela Hamilton. Her father is a small business owner, and her mother is a spinal trained nurse. Hamilton graduated from Sacred Heart College, Sorento, in 2002. Hamilton graduated with a Bachelor of Politics and Law from University of Notre Dame Australia in 2006. Jan Norberger
Jan-Henrik Norberger (born in Hamburg, Germany on 7 March 1975) is a former Australian politician. He was the member for the Western Australian Legislative Assembly seat of Joondalup from 2013 to 2017, representing the Liberal Party. Early life and education Norberger was born in Hamburg, Germany, on 7 March 1975, to Lothar and Baerbel Norberger. He has two sisters. In 1982, his family emigrated from Germany to Perth, Western Australia, where his family built their first home in Ocean Reef, and later moved to Edgewater. Norberger attended Mullaloo Heights Primary School and Prendiville Catholic College, graduating in 1992. He enrolled in an Advanced Diploma of Applied Science (Computing) at Central TAFE, Perth, however did not complete the course. 2001 Western Australian State Election
Elections were held in the state of Western Australia on 10 February 2001 to elect all 57 members to the Legislative Assembly and all 34 members to the Legislative Council. The two-term Liberal–National coalition government, led by Premier Richard Court, was defeated by the Labor Party, led by Opposition Leader Dr Geoff Gallop. The election produced the biggest change of seats at any election since 1911, with Labor winning 14 seats from the Coalition as well as an Independent-held seat, while losing the seat of Kalgoorlie for the first time since 1923 to Liberal candidate Matt Birney. Chris Baker (politician)
Christopher John Baker (born 9 July 1958), Australian politician, is a member of the Liberal Party, a solicitor, and was a Member of the Western Australian Legislative Assembly (1996–2001) and City of Joondalup councillor (2001–2004). He is currently a City of Wanneroo Councillor. Baker was born in Brisbane and moved to Western Australia in 1989. Prior to entering parliament as the member for the newly created seat of Joondalup, he was a barrister, solicitor and proprietor of a law firm. Baker also served as a Councillor in the Town of Port Hedland from 1994–1996. In parliament, he was involved in a number of committees, including the Public Accounts Committee. The Liberal Party of Australia (Western Australian Division), branded as Liberal Western Australia, is the division of the Liberal Party of Australia in Western Australia. Founded in March 1949 as the Liberal and Country League of Western Australia (LCL), it simplified its name to the Liberal Party in 1968. There was a previous Western Australian division of the Liberal Party when the Liberal Party was formed in 1945, but it ceased to exist and merged into the LCL in May 1949. 1989 Western Australian State Election
Elections were held in the state of Western Australia on 4 February 1989 to elect all 57 members to the Legislative Assembly and all 34 members to the Legislative Council. The Labor government, led by Premier Peter Dowding, won a third term in office against the Liberal Party, led by Opposition Leader Barry MacKinnon. The result was a major swing against the Labor Party, coming in the wake of revelations of dealings between Government and business that came to be known as WA Inc. Wanneroo is an electoral district of the Legislative Assembly in the Australian state of Western Australia. The district is located in the northern suburbs of Perth. Wanneroo is a marginal seat; it has been held by the government of the day on every occasion since its creation in 1989. Geography Wanneroo is based in the outer northern suburbs of Perth. It includes the suburbs of Ashby, Banksia Grove, Carramar, Gnangara, Hocking, Jandabup, Madeley, Mariginiup, Pearsall, Sinagra, Tapping, Wangara and Wanneroo. History Wanneroo was first created for the 1989 state election. It replaced the abolished seat of Joondalup, and was won by Labor MP Jackie Watkins, then the member for Joondalup.
