Drill 'n Bass
Drill 'n' bass is a subgenre of drum and bass which developed in the mid-1990s as IDM artists began experimenting with elements of breakbeat, jungle, and drum and bass music. Artists utilized powerful audio software programs and deployed frenzied, irregular beats that often discouraged dancing. Toilet Humor
Toilet humour, or potty or scatological humour (compare scatology), is a type of off-colour humour dealing with defecation, diarrhea, constipation, urination and flatulence, and to a lesser extent vomiting and other bodily functions. It sees substantial crossover with sexual humour, such as dick jokes. Toilet humour is commonly an interest of children and young teenagers, for whom cultural taboos related to acknowledgement of waste excretion still have a degree of novelty. The humour comes from the rejection of such taboos, and is a part of modern culture. Music Toilet humour is sometimes found in song and rhyme, particularly schoolboy songs. Glitch is a genre of electronic music that emerged in the 1990s. It is distinguished by the deliberate use of glitch-based audio media and other sonic artifacts. The glitching sounds featured in glitch tracks usually come from audio recording device or digital electronics malfunctions, such as CD skipping, electric hum, digital or analog distortion, circuit bending, bit-rate reduction, hardware noise, software bugs, computer crashes, vinyl record hiss or scratches, and system errors. Sometimes devices that were already broken are used, and sometimes devices are broken expressly for this purpose. Drum And Bass
Drum and bass (also written as drum & bass or drum'n'bass and commonly abbreviated as D&B, DnB, or D'n'B) is a genre of electronic dance music characterized by fast breakbeats (typically 165–185 beats per minute) with heavy bass and sub-bass lines, samples, and synthesizers. The genre grew out of the UK's rave scene in the 1990s. The popularity of drum and bass at its commercial peak ran parallel to several other UK dance styles. A major influence was the original Jamaican dub and reggae sound that influenced jungle's bass-heavy sound. Another feature of the style is the complex syncopation of the drum tracks' breakbeat. Breakcore
Breakcore is a style and microgenre of electronic dance music that emerged from jungle, hardcore, and drum and bass in the mid-to-late 1990s. It is characterized by very complex and intricate breakbeats and a wide palette of sampling sources played at high tempos. History As the early days of " hardcore techno" or just "hardcore" began to settle in Europe, breakcore as a genre began to take more concrete forms in other parts of the world. Miguel Trost De Pedro (born July 27, 1979), better known by his stage name Kid606, is an electronic musician who was raised in San Diego and later moved to San Francisco. He is most closely associated with the glitch, IDM, hardcore techno and breakcore scenes. Kid606's music is similar to the work of his friend and colleague Lesser, as well as hardcore and IDM acts such as Atari Teenage Riot, Autechre, Mr. Oizo, and Matmos. Animals on Wheels is the stage name of Andrew Coleman, an electronic musician based in Cambridge. Coleman collaborated with Adam Butler (a.k.a. Vert) to form Bovinyl, an independent record label, and released his first EP, ''Baits Bite'', in 1996. ''Feed Me Weird Things'' is the debut studio album by English electronic musician Tom Jenkinson under the alias Squarepusher. It was released on 3 June 1996 through Rephlex Records. It entered the dance albums chart at No. 10 on 15 June. The album received positive reviews from critics and has been retrospectively cited as a landmark release in the drill 'n' bass subgenre. A 25th anniversary remastered edition was released on 4 June 2021 by Warp. Production Tom Jenkinson produced the tracks on ''Feed Me Weird Things'' from December 1994 to February 1996, while he was a student at Chelsea College of Art and Design. He used his student loans to purchase much of the equipment that he utilised in recording the album. Richard D. James (also known as Aphex Twin), who co-founded Jenkinson's label Rephlex Records, selected the tracks that appeared on the final album. ''Drum 'n' Bass for Papa'' is a studio album by Luke Vibert, released under the alias Plug. It was originally released by Blue Planet Recordings in 1996, and in 1997 on Trent Reznor's Nothing Records with the bonus addition of Vibert's previous three Plug EPs. '' NME'' listed it as the 33rd best album of 1996. Writing for ''Chicago Reader'', Peter Margasak listed it as the 9th best album of 1996. Release Originally released by Blue Planet Recordings in 1996, the album has gone through several different releases. The first was a CD release with an additional bonus disc, titled ''Drum 'n' Bass for Papa + Special Edition CD'', released in 1997. It had different cover art and the discs were colored dark blue instead of the original sepia tone. The album was released again on Trent Reznor's label Nothing Records on 9 September 1997. ''Hangable Auto Bulb'' is a series of two 1995 EPs by electronic musician Richard D. James, under his alias AFX. The two were re-released by Warp Records as a single album on 31 October 2005. They marked James's first foray into rapid drill 'n' bass style beat programming.
