The digital divide in the United States refers to inequalities between individuals, households, and other groups of different demographic and socioeconomic levels in ''access'' to information and communication technologies ("ICTs") and in the ''knowledge and skills'' needed to effectively use the information gained from connecting. The Silent Generation, also known as the Traditionalist Generation, is the Western demographic cohort following the Greatest Generation and preceding the Baby Boomers. The Silent Generation is generally defined as people born from 1928 to 1945. By this definition and U.S. Census data, there were 23 million Silents in the United States as of 2019.
