Ardicino della Porta the Younger ( It.: ''Ardicino della Porta, iuniore'') (1434–1493) (called the Cardinal of Aléria) was an Italian Roman Catholic bishop and cardinal. Biography Ardicino della Porta was born in Novara in 1434. He was the grand-nephew of Cardinal Ardicino della Porta, ''seniore''. He was a doctor of both laws. Early in his career, he was vicar general of the Archdiocese of Florence, in which capacity he published the interdict of Pope Paul II against Florence. He later served as papal legate to Frederick III, Holy Roman Emperor and to Matthias Corvinus, King of Hungary to encourage them to participate in a crusade against the Ottoman Empire. He then became a Referendary of the Roman Curia. On February 22, 1475, he was elected Bishop of Aléria, a post he occupied until his death. He went on to serve as a datary under Pope Sixtus IV. Bianca Della Porta (born 23 March 1991 in Dorval, Quebec) is a Canadian ice hockey and rugby player who has played for professional teams in both sports. Hockey career Bianca Della Porta began playing hockey at the age of 8. She played several seasons with the Midget AA Sélects from Lac Saint-Louis. In the 2008–09 season, she helped the Sélects win the Dodge Cup. The following seasons she played with the Dawson College Blues in the AA College Women's Hockey League. In 2011–12 Della Porta joined the Montreal Stars in the Canadian Women's Hockey League (CWHL). In her first season, she was the youngest player on the team. In 27 games, she scored 2 goals and made 7 assists. The team were 2012 Clarkson Cup champions. Giacomo della Porta (1532–1602) was an Italian architect and sculptor, who worked on many important buildings in Rome, including St. Peter's Basilica. He was born at Porlezza, Lombardy and died in Rome. Biography Giacomo Della Porta was born in the Duchy of Genoa into a family of sculptors. He was influenced by and collaborated with Michelangelo, and Giacomo Barozzi da Vignola, his teacher of architecture. With these two great masters he became one of the most important architects in the history of the Roman renaissance. In fact after 1563 he carried out Michelangelo's plans for the rebuilding of the Campidoglio or Capitoline Hill's open spaces where he completed the façade and steps of Palazzo Senatorio, and the ''Cordonata'' or the ramped steps up to the Piazza del Campidoglio. Guglielmo della Porta (c. 1500–1577) was an Italian architect and sculptor of the late Renaissance or Mannerist period. He was born to a prominent North Italian family of masons, sculptors and architects. His father Giovanni Battista della Porta was a sculptor. He trained in his uncle's workshop in Genoa and moved to Rome about 1537, where he was very much influenced by Michelangelo. Della Porta provided legs for the Farnese Hercules when it was first excavated; when the original legs were found some years later, Michelangelo recommended that Della Porta's legs be retained, as showing how modern artists were capable of direct comparison with the Ancients.
