Andrés de Vargas (1613–1647) was a Spanish painter. He was born at Cuenca, Spain, Cuenca, and came to Madrid as a young man. He studied under Francisco Camilo. He painted religious works for the friaries as well as for private patrons of Madrid. He painted works for the cathedral and churches of Cuenca.William Stirling Maxwell, ''Annals of the Artists of Spain'' (J.C. Nimmo, 1891), 877–8. Diego De Vargas
Diego de Vargas Zapata y Luján Ponce de León y Contreras (1643–1704), commonly known as Don Diego de Vargas, was a Spanish Governor of the New Spain territory of Santa Fe de Nuevo México, to the US states of New Mexico and Arizona, titular 1690–1695, effective 1692–1696 and 1703–1704. He is known for leading the reconquest of the territory in 1692 following the Pueblo Revolt of 1680. This reconquest is commemorated annually during the Fiestas de Santa Fe in the city of Santa Fe. Pueblo revolt and reconquest On 10 August 1680, Pueblo people from various pueblos in northern New Mexico staged an uprising against Spanish colonists. They laid siege to the city of Santa Fe, forcing the colonists to retreat on 20 August. Francisco José de Vargas Benítez (born 22 October 1970 ) is a Paraguayan lawyer and politician. Francisco de Vargas y Mexia (b. Madrid, date unknown; d. at the Hieronymite monastery of la Cisla in 1566) was a Spanish diplomat and ecclesiastical writer. He belonged to an old family of the lower nobility and studied law at the University of Alcalá, receiving the degree of licentiate in law. He became a government official, and by his energy and education, especially by his knowledge of law, rose to the position of fiscal of the Council of Castile (''Fiscal del Consejos de Castilla''), that is, attorney-general. In 1545, Charles V, Holy Roman Emperor, sent him to the Council of Trent. In January, 1548, he protested, as Charles's representative at the council, against its transfer to Bologna, and in 1551 he congratulated the council on its return to Trent. Urbán de Vargas (1606–1656) was a Spanish baroque composer. Life Urbano Barguilla y de Ripalda was born in 1606 in Falces, south of Navarra. He studied with the ''maestro de capilla'' at Burgos, Luis Bernardo Jalón, known for his polemic activities and radical views on music.
