Donor Fatigue
Donor fatigue is a phenomenon in which people no longer donate to charities, although they have in the past. On a larger scale, it can also refer to a Fatigue (medical), slowness to act on the part of the international community or any other donor base in response to a humanitarian crisis or call-to-action. Examples *Tokyo International Conference on African Development, TICAD was formed at a time when the international community's interest in Africa was starting to wane, and donor fatigue was setting in. *United Nations Security Council Resolution 1087: There was slow progress in the peace process, including implementing the Lusaka Protocol. Fatigue (medical)
Fatigue describes a state of tiredness that does not resolve with rest or sleep. In general usage, fatigue is synonymous with extreme tiredness or exhaustion that normally follows prolonged physical or mental activity. When it does not resolve after rest or sleep, or occurs independently of physical or mental exertion, it may be a symptom of a medical condition that may become severe or progressive. Fatigue can be a feature of a mental disorder such as depression; may be associated with conditions of chronic pain such as fibromyalgia; it may also feature in conditions of chronic low-level inflammation, and be a disease-related symptom in many other conditions. Humanitarian Crisis
A humanitarian crisis (or sometimes humanitarian disaster) is defined as a singular event or a series of events that are threatening in terms of health, safety or well-being of a community or large group of people. It may be an internal or external conflict and usually occurs throughout a large land area. Local, national and international responses are necessary in such events. Each humanitarian crisis is caused by different factors and as a result, each different humanitarian crisis requires a unique response targeted towards the specific sectors affected. United Nations Security Council resolution 1087, adopted unanimously on 11 December 1996, after reaffirming Resolution 696 (1991) and all subsequent resolutions on Angola, extended the mandate of the United Nations Angola Verification Mission III (UNAVEM III) until 28 February 1997. AIDS fatigue is a phenomenon wherein individuals or societies who had been concerned about the impact of HIV or AIDS become desensitized to having a strong emotional response to HIV issues after receiving continual messages about the danger over a long period of time. Information overload (also known as infobesity, infoxication, information anxiety, and information explosion) is the difficulty in understanding an issue and effectively making decisions when one has too much information (TMI) about that issue, and is generally associated with the excessive quantity of daily information.
