Curd, also dahi, is a traditional yogurt or fermented milk product, originating from the Indian subcontinent, usually prepared from cow's milk, and sometimes buffalo milk, or goat milk. It is popular throughout the Indian subcontinent. Ed Dahi
Dahi ( ar, الدحي) ( he, דַחִי) is an Arab village in northeastern Israel. Located on Givat HaMoreh (Jebel Dahi in Arabic) overlooking Afula, it falls under the jurisdiction of Bustan al-Marj Regional Council. The village is situated at an altitude of 550 meters above sea level. As of it had a population of . History Dahi was named after Dahia Bin Khalifa al-Kalbei, who according to Islamic tradition, was a friend of the prophet Muhammad. Dahi Al Naemi (born 5 September 1978) is a Qatari football (soccer), footballer who is a defender (association football), defender for Umm-Salal Sports Club, Umm-Salal. Al Naemi played for Qatar at the 1995 FIFA U-17 World Championship in Ecuador. He subsequently played for the Qatar national football team, senior national team in FIFA World Cup Qualifiers 1998, 2002 and 2006. Dahi Handi
Dahi Handi (also known as Gopal Kala or Utlotsavam) is an entertainment and competitive event associated with Krishna Janmashtami, the Hindu festival celebrating the birth of Krishna. During the event, which takes place during August or September on the day after Krishna Janmashtami. It involves communities hanging a clay pot filled with yogurt (''dahi''), butter, or another milk-based food at a convenient or tall height. Young men and boys form teams, make a human pyramid, and attempt to reach or break the pot. As they do so, people surround them, sing, play music, and cheer them on. It is a public spectacle, and an old tradition. More recently, Dahi Handi was lavished with media coverage, prize money and commercial sponsorships. The event is based on the legend of the god Krishna along with his friends mischievously stealing butter and other curd from neighbouring homes in Gokul as a child.
