Cycling Magazine
A cycling magazine or bicycle magazine is a magazine with news and reports on bicycles, cycling, and the bicycle industry. Bicycle magazines may feature new bicycle tests and comparisons, which describe advantages and disadvantages of similar models; future models speculations; bicycle tour descriptions; bicycle safety issues, lists of new models and gear with prices, manufacturer advertisements, specifications and ratings; new and used bicycle advertisements; bicycle racing news and events; and other information. Among the first publications for cyclists appears to be Cycling UK’s (then the "Bicycle Touring Club") club journal which was first published in October 1878. Other early cycling-oriented magazines were ''Cyclist'' and ''Wheeling'' (1880 or earlier) and the London-based ''Bicycling News'' (1881 or earlier). A magazine is a periodical publication, generally published on a regular schedule (often weekly or monthly), containing a variety of content. They are generally financed by advertising, purchase price, prepaid subscriptions, or by a combination of the three. ''Cycle Active'' was a cycling magazine published 13 times a year by TI Media. The magazine was in circulation between September 2009 and September 2016. History and profile ''Cycle Active'' was first published in September 2009. It was restarted in October 2015. It was first edited by Robert Garbutt and then, by Hannah Reynolds. Velo Vision
''VeloVision'' was a quarterly magazine that covered specialised bicycles, utility cycling and human powered vehicle, human power worldwide since 2000 and was originally published and edited by Peter Eland. The format is 230mm x 280mm (slightly over A4). The headquarters of the magazine was in York. In 2015, Eland retired from publishing the magazine and sold it to a former reader, Howard Yeomans. ''Singletrack'' is a UK-based mountain biking magazine and web site. The magazine is aimed at more mature mountain bikers and intended to provide a counterpoint to magazines such as MBUK which are aimed at a younger audience. It is based in Todmorden, West Yorkshire. ''Rouleur'' is a British cycling magazine first published in 2006 by sportswear brand Rapha and later as a part of Gruppo Media Ltd. The magazine's main focus is road racing but there have been excursions into areas such as cyclo-cross and track racing. ''Procycling'', or ''ProCycling'', was a bicycling sport magazine owned by Future. First published in April 1999, there were 13 issues a year distributed in all countries where there are English-speaking readers. Andrew Sutcliffe, the former editor of ''Cycle Trader'' and the IPC Media publication ''Cycling Weekly'' helped form a company called Cabal Communications, run by other former IPC staff. Cabal introduced a monthly magazine called ''Procycling'' as a rival to IPC's own monthly publication, ''Cycle Sport''. Its first editor was William Fotheringham, who had also been on IPC's staff. He was assisted and then succeeded by Jeremy Whittle, correspondent to The Times and author of ''Bad Blood''. In 2003, Cabal was acquired by Highbury House. It is published by Our Media, an Immediate Media group company, and is currently the UK's best-selling mountain bike magazine, with a circulation of 23,322 (ABC: Jan – Dec 2021).
