Cordis (band)
CORDIS is an American progressive chamber music group featuring cimbalom, percussion, cello, guitar, and keyboards. History ''Here On Out'' Richard Grimes, Andrew Beall, and Jeremy Harman formed the contemporary ensemble, CORDIS, in Boston, MA in 2008. The group was created as a performance vehicle for Grimes' compositions. The ensemble's first album, Here On Out, recorded at Q Division Studios in Boston, MA later that year, was produced by Tom Durack and Grimes and released on Landspeed Records. The ensemble's debut was hailed as both a critical and commercial success. By 2010 the group evolved into a path that found them exploring more experimental timbres, with Grimes shifting his role in the ensemble solely on acoustic and electric cimbalom. Post-rock
Post-rock is a form of experimental rock characterized by a focus on exploring textures and timbre over traditional rock song structures, chords, or riffs. Post-rock artists are often instrumental, typically combining rock instrumentation with electronics. The genre emerged within the indie and underground music scene of the 1980s and early 1990s. However, due to its abandonment of rock conventions, it often bears little resemblance musically to contemporary indie rock, borrowing instead from diverse sources including ambient, electronica, jazz, krautrock, dub, and minimalist classical. Artists such as Talk Talk and Slint have been credited with producing foundational works in the style in the early 1990s. The term post-rock itself was notably employed by journalist Simon Reynolds in a review of the 1994 Bark Psychosis album '' Hex''. Chamber Music
Chamber music is a form of classical music that is composed for a small group of instruments—traditionally a group that could fit in a palace chamber or a large room. Most broadly, it includes any art music that is performed by a small number of performers, with one performer to a part (in contrast to orchestral music, in which each string part is played by a number of performers). However, by convention, it usually does not include solo instrument performances. Because of its intimate nature, chamber music has been described as "the music of friends". For more than 100 years, chamber music was played primarily by amateur musicians in their homes, and even today, when chamber music performance has migrated from the home to the concert hall, many musicians, amateur and professional, still play chamber music for their own pleasure.
