Circus Skills
Circus skills are a group of disciplines that have been performed as entertainment in circus, sideshow, busking, or variety, vaudeville, or music hall shows. Most circus skills are still being performed today. Many are also practiced by non-performers as a hobby. Circus schools and instructors use various systems of categorization to group circus skills by type. FSU Flying High Circus
The Florida State University (FSU) "Flying High" Circus is an extra-curricular activity under FSU's Division of Student Affairs. Located in Tallahassee, Florida, it is one of two such collegiate circuses in the United States along with Illinois State University's Gamma Phi Circus. All members of the FSU Circus are required to be a degree-seeking students registered at Florida State University and accepted after an audition. The FSU Circus is primarily a three-ring aerial and stage presentation, and there are no animal acts. Student performers rig all of their own equipment, set up the circus's tent, sew costumes, and produce lights and sound for performances. The Philadelphia School of Circus Arts (PSCA) is a contemporary circus school in Philadelphia. It began in June 2008. The New England Center for Circus Arts (NECCA) is a non-profit circus school based in Brattleboro, Vermont. As of 2016, the School reported 6,000 students. Originally in the Old Cotton Mill, in Brattleboro, the school moved into a new custom-built facility at 10 Town Crier Dr in 2017, which includes an 8,600 square foot Trapezium.
