Fegersheim
Fegersheim () is a commune in the Bas-Rhin department in Grand Est in north-eastern France. Geography and Economics Fegersheim is located to the south of Strasbourg, between the Rivers Andlau, Scheer and Ill. Between 1962 and 1999 the registered population increased from 2153 to 4533, reflecting economic growth in the Strasbourg area. History The discovery of tombs from the third century BC indicates that the site was occupied during the Celtic period. The little town acquired its urban status in the eleventh century. At that time the Benedictine monastery of nearby Eschau owned a substantial property in Fegersheim. In the following centuries until 1789 Fegersheim and its conjoined settlement of Ohnheim would be held as an episcopal fiefdom, successively, by Ochsenstein, Hanau-Lichtenberg and Rathsamhausen. Holtzheim (; german: Holzheim; gsw-FR, Holze) is a commune in the Bas-Rhin department in Grand Est in north-eastern France. The village is surrounded by farmland and thereby separated from the Strasbourg conurbation: however, Strasbourg airport is less than two kilometres away to the south. Hangenbieten is a commune in the Bas-Rhin department and Grand Est region of north-eastern France. The name is a contraction of the former ''Hangenbietenheim''. Geography Hangenbieten lies 2 km north of Strasbourg Airport and 10 km west of central Strasbourg. The village is traversed by the Canal de la Bruche, built by Vauban following King Louis XIV of France's annexation of the Prince-Bishopric of Strasbourg in 1681. The canal connects Strasbourg to Molsheim and is followed by a cycle path. Geispolsheim
Geispolsheim (; gsw-FR, Gaispítze) is a commune in the Bas-Rhin department in Grand Est in north-eastern France. Geography Geispolsheim is positioned to the south of Strasbourg. The construction of a railway between Strasbourg and Mulhouse involved the building in 1841 of a station approximately to the east of the little town: this was followed by the development around the new station of a separate little conurbation, albeit one that always remained a part of the commune of Geispolsheim. The newer settlement was known as 'Geispolsheim-Gare' (Geispolsheim-Station), and retains the name even though the station itself was demolished in 1992, while the original settlement is still unofficially referred to as 'Geispolsheim-Village'.
