Georges Dransart (May 12, 1924 – June 14, 2005) was a French sprint canoeist, born in Paris, who competed from the late 1940s to the late 1950s. Herbert Wiedermann (born 1 November 1927) was an Austrian sprint canoeist who competed from the early 1950s to the early 1960s. Anatoli Demitkov
Anatoly Nikolayevich Demitkov (27 May 1926 – 15 August 2005) was a Soviet canoeist. He took the silver medal in the K-2 1000 m event at the 1956 Summer Olympics in Melbourne together with Mikhail Kaaleste. They went on to win the European Championship in 1957 and took third place at the 1958 Flatwater Racing World Championship in Prague. Mikhail Kaaleste
Mikhail Kaaleste (born Mihail Stolär; 20 August 1931 – 5 May 2018) is an Estonian sprint canoeist who competed in 1950s. He won a silver medal in the K-2 1000 m event at the 1956 Summer Olympics in Melbourne. Kaaleste changed his last name in 1940 from Stolär. Originally going into cross-country skiing, he was changed to sprint canoeing by his coaches at Dynamo Sports Club. After winning a silver medal in Melbourne, Kaaleste won two bronze medals at the 1958 ICF Canoe Sprint World Championships in Prague (K-2 1000 m, K-4 1000 m). He also won several medals in the Soviet Union in cross-country skiing in the 1950s. In 1964, he became coach for the Dynamo Leningrad biathlon and cross-country skiing. Gert Fredriksson
Gert Fridolf Fredriksson (21 November 1919 – 5 July 2006) was a Swedish sprint canoeist. Competing in four Summer Olympics, he won eight medals including six golds (1948: K-1 1000 m, K-1 10000 m; 1952: K-1 1000 m, 1956: K-1 1000 m, K-1 10000 m; 1960: K-2 1000 m), one silver (1952: K-1 10000 m), and one bronze (K-1 1000 m). At the 1964 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, Fredriksson was head coach of the Swedish team. He was the most successful male canoeist ever, having gained medals in a succession of Swedish, Nordic, World and Olympic championships from 1942 to 1960.
