In graph theory, a bramble for an undirected graph is a family of connected subgraphs of that all touch each other: for every pair of disjoint subgraphs, there must exist an edge in that has one endpoint in each subgraph. The ''order'' of a bramble is the smallest size of a hitting set, a set of vertices of that has a nonempty intersection with each of the subgraphs. A randomized algorithm is an algorithm that employs a degree of randomness as part of its logic or procedure. Martin Grohe (born 1967) is a German mathematician and computer scientist known for his research on parameterized complexity, mathematical logic, finite model theory, the logic of graphs, database theory, and descriptive complexity theory. He is a University Professor of Computer Science at RWTH Aachen University, where he holds the Chair for Logic and Theory of Discrete Systems.
