Bishop Of Hereford
The Bishop of Hereford is the ordinary of the Church of England Diocese of Hereford in the Province of Canterbury. The episcopal see is centred in the Hereford, City of Hereford where the bishop's seat (''cathedra'') is in the Hereford Cathedral, Cathedral Church of Saint Mary and Saint Ethelbert. The diocese was founded for the minor sub-kingdom of the Magonsæte in 676. It now covers the whole of the county of Herefordshire, southern Shropshire and a few parishes in Worcestershire, Powys and Monmouthshire. The arms of the see are ''gules, three leopard's faces reversed jessant-de-lys or'', which were the personal arms of Bishop Thomas de Cantilupe (d.1282). Victor Whitsey
Hubert Victor Whitsey (21 November 1916 – 25 December 1987) was a Church of England bishop. He was Bishop of Hertford 1971–74 and Bishop of Chester 1974–81. Biography He was born on 21 November 1916 in Blackburn. He was educated at Queen Elizabeth’s Grammar School in Blackburn and, after war service (in the Royal Artillery, rising to the rank of lieutenant colonel), at St Edmund Hall, Oxford University. After Oxford, he attended Westcott House, Cambridge for theological studies. He was ordained as a deacon on 18 December 1949 and appointed a curate in Chorley (St Laurence) in the Diocese of Blackburn. He was ordained as a priest on 1 January 1950, and was appointed as a perpetual curate in Farrington St Paul, in the Diocese of Blackburn a year later on 1 January 1951. Jane Mainwaring
Jane Frances Mainwaring (born 1970) is a British Anglican bishop, who has served as Bishop of Hertford, a suffragan bishop in the Diocese of St Albans, since February 2023. She had previously been Archdeacon of St Albans from March 2020 to 2023. Early life and education Mainwaring was born in 1970. She studied theology and religious studies at Leeds University, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in 1992. She later studied at Trinity College, Carmarthen, graduating with a Master of Philosophy (MPhil) degree in 1997 and a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in 1999. The Bishop of Bath and Wells heads the Church of England Diocese of Bath and Wells in the Province of Canterbury in England. Noel Michael Roy Beasley (called Michael; born 1968) is a British Church of England bishop and epidemiologist. Since June 2022, he has been the Bishop of Bath and Wells, although he has yet to be enthroned and will start active ministry in that role later in 2022. Paul Bayes
Paul Bayes (born 1953) is an English Anglican retired bishop. He served as Bishop of Liverpool, 2014–2022, and as Bishop of Hertford in the Church of England Diocese of St Albans, 2010–2014. Early life Bayes was born in Bradford, West Riding of Yorkshire, on 2 November 1953. He studied drama at the University of Birmingham before studying for ordination at Queen's College, Edgbaston. Christopher Richard James Foster (born 7 November 1953) is a retired Anglican bishop who served as Bishop of Portsmouth in the Church of England from 2010 to 2021. Kenneth Harold Pillar (10 October 192421 February 2011) was the Bishop of Hertford from 1982 until 1989. Pillar was born on 10 October 1924 and educated at Devonport High School for Boys and Queens' College, Cambridge before beginning his ordained ministry as a curate in Childwall.
