Battle Of Lysychansk
The Battle of Lysychansk was a military engagement between Russia and Ukraine in the wider Battle of Donbas of the Eastern Ukraine offensive during the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine. By May 2022, Lysychansk and its twin city of Sievierodonetsk were the two largest cities of the Luhansk Oblast not under Russian control. On May, Russian forces launched an assault on Sievierodonetsk where a fierce battle followed until late June, when Ukrainian forces pulled out of the city. Fighting then continued as Russian forces started to attack Lysychansk across the Donets River. After intense Russian shelling and ground clashes on the outskirts, the pro-Russian separatist Luhansk People's Republic (LPR) announced their forces had seized Lysychansk on 2 July, although Ukraine initially denied the city's capture. Hirske
Hirske (), or Gorskoye (), is a city in the Sievierodonetsk Raion of the Luhansk Oblast (region) of Ukraine. Population: . History Starting mid-April 2014 pro-Russian separatists captured several towns in Donetsk Oblast; including Hirske. On 13 August 2014, Ukrainian forces reportedly secured the city from the pro-Russian separatists. However, on 1 September 2014 it was recaptured again. On 7 October 2014, to facilitate the governance of Luhansk Oblast, the Verkhovna Rada made some changes in the administrative divisions, so that the localities in the government-controlled areas were grouped into districts. Myrna Dolyna ( uk, Мирна Долина) is an urban-type settlement in Sievierodonetsk Raion (district) in Luhansk Oblast of eastern Ukraine. Population: History Since 21 June 2022 it has been under the ''de facto'' civil-military administration of the Luhansk People's Republic. Until 18 July 2020, Myrna Dolyna was located in Popasna Raion. The raion was abolished in July 2020 as part of the administrative reform of Ukraine, which reduced the number of raions of Luhansk Oblast to eight, of which only four were controlled by the government. Toshkivka ( uk, Тошківка; russian: link=no, Тошковка) is an urban-type settlement in Sievierodonetsk Raion (district) in Luhansk Oblast of eastern Ukraine, at about 30 km WNW from the centre of Luhansk city. Battle Of Sievierodonetsk (2022)
The Battle of Sievierodonetsk was a military engagement in the wider battle of Donbas of the Eastern Ukraine offensive during the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine. The city of Sievierodonetsk acted as the administrative center of Luhansk Oblast before the invasion. By May 2022, Sievierodonetsk and the neighbouring city of Lysychansk were the only notable parts of the oblast that remained under Ukrainian control. By 14 June 2022, Russian forces gained control of most of the city and cut off all escape routes. On 24 June 2022, Ukrainian units were ordered to retreat from the city and the next day Russian and pro-Russian separatist forces fully captured Sievierodonetsk.
