Beshmet
A beshmet (from tt-Latn, bišmät; ky, beshmant; kk, beshpent; az, beşmet) is an outer garment worn among the Turkic peoples, Mongolians and later by the peoples of the Caucasus and the Cossacks. Beshmet is an open garment that reaches to the knees; sometimes it is quilted. It is in the form of a buttoned half-caftan with a standing collar and is gathered into folds, belted at the waist and is girded with a saber belt (which is a leather belt decorated with copper and silver plaques) to which a dagger or saber was attached. Beshmet tightly fits the chest and waist, and the sleeves are long and narrow. The length is slightly above the knees or knee-length, with a back cut at the waist, straight solid floors fastened to the waist with a hook, with side wedges. It was worn under caftans such as chokha or chepken, chekmen, but in everyday life it could be worn on its own. Arkhalig
An arkhalig ka, ახალუხი, hy, արխալուղ, fa, ارخالق) is part of both male and female traditional dress of the peoples of the Caucasus and Iran. The arkhalig originated from the ''beshmet'', a Turkic outer clothing later worn by Cossacks. An arkhalig is a long tight-waist jacket made of various kinds of fabric, such as silk, satin, cloth, cashmere and velvet, traditionally depending on the social status of its owner. Male arkhaligs can be both single-breasted (done up with hooks) and double-breasted (done up with buttons). In cold weather, a chokha is put on above an arkhalig. Female arkhaligs are often ornamented and have tight long sleeves widening on the wrists. Chepken or chekmen ( tt-Cyrl, чепкен-outerwear, krc, чепкен, kum, чепген, russian: чекмень, nog, шепкен, az, çəpkən, tr, cepken ) is a caftan worn among Turkic people and later by the Cossacks. It was also in wide use among Caucasians. Description The clothing is in a transitional form between a robe and a fitting caftan without collar and most often made of cloth. The word "chepken" was used among Turkic groups in North Caucasus to refer to chokha and was often synonymous with that attire. Among Azerbaijanis "chepken" is a type of lined upper shoulder clothing with long false sleeves. Chepkens were mainly sewn from cloth, velour or velvet as well as various silk brocade fabrics.
