Battle Of Krasnyi Lyman
The battle of Krasnyi Lyman was a series of battles in 2014 for control of the city of Krasnyi Lyman (now Lyman) of Donetsk Oblast during the Russian-Ukrainian war in Donbas. Prerequisites On April 12, 2014, on the 5th day after the proclamation of the Donetsk People's Republic, the Russian-backed separatists seized the city police department of Krasnyi Lyman (simultaneously with the seizure of the SBU and police buildings in Sloviansk). The initiative was taken by the mayor Leonid Perebyinis in the negotiation process. During negotiations with an armed and aggressive crowd of Russian militants, it was agreed that the separatists would leave the city. Lyman, Ukraine
Lyman (, ), formerly Krasnyi Lyman (, 'Red Lyman') from 1925 to 2016, is a city in the Donetsk Oblast, Donetsk region of Ukraine. Administratively, it is incorporated as a City of regional significance (Ukraine), city of oblast significance. Until 2016, it also served as the administrative center of Lyman Raion, Donetsk Oblast, Lyman Raion, though it was not a part of the raion. It still serves as the center of Lyman hromada. The population was down from 28,172 in 2001. Don Cossacks (russian: Донские казаки, Donskie kazaki) or Donians (russian: донцы, dontsy) are Cossacks who settled along the middle and lower Don. The Donetsk Oblast ( ukr, Донецька область, Donetska oblast, ), also referred to as Donechchyna ( ukr, Донеччина, links=no), is an oblast of eastern Ukraine. It is Ukraine's most populous province, with around 4.1 million residents. 95th Air Assault Brigade (Ukraine)
The 95th Air Assault Brigade is a unit of Ukrainian Air Assault Forces, Ukraine's rapid reaction force. The brigade is located in Zhytomyr. It is considered one of the most prestigious and capable units in the Ukrainian military. The brigade is one of the Ukrainian Partnership for Peace units. The brigade received a lot of publicity for its raid behind the separatist lines allegedly inflicting heavy losses on separatist and Russian forces during the war in Donbas. History The 95th Training Center of the Ukrainian Air Assault Forces was created in the early 1990s in Zhytomyr (Korbutivka base) from the 242nd Training Tank Regiment. The 242nd Tank Training Regiment had been part of the 117th Guards Tank Training Division. A second base, Bohunia, was also used for the training center. The 25th Separate Airbone Sicheslav Brigade ( uk, 25-та окрема повітрянодесантна Січеславська бригада) is an airborne formation of the Ukrainian Air Assault Forces. Arsen Pavlov
Arsen Sergeyevich Pavlov (russian: Арсе́н Серге́евич Па́влов; 2 February 1983 – 16 October 2016), known by his Motorola (Моторо́ла), was a Russian militant known for murdering and torturing Ukrainian POWs, who led the Sparta Battalion up until his death in a blast on his apartment in Donetsk. Early life and career A Russian citizen, Pavlov was born in Ukhta, Komi Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic, Komi ASSR. His father came from Tver Oblast, his mother was a native of the Komi ASSR. He lived in Rostov-on-Don and spent some time in the Russian marines. According to a newspaper report by ''Georgian Journal'' he had serious problems with Rostov's police while working there at a car wash, since he allegedly went on a drunken joyride in a car stolen from there. BMD-1
The BMD-1 is a Soviet airborne amphibious tracked infantry fighting vehicle, which was introduced in 1969 and first seen by the West in 1970. BMD stands for ''Boyevaya Mashina Desanta'' (Боевая Машина Десанта, which literally translates to "Combat Vehicle of the Airborne"). It can be dropped by parachute and although it resembles the BMP-1 it is in fact much smaller. The BMD-1 was used as an IFV by the Soviet Army's airborne divisions. An improved variant of the BMD-1 was developed, the BMD-2. The BMD-1 also provided a basis for the BTR-D airborne multi-purpose tracked APC.
