''Azospirillum'' is a Gram-negative, microaerophilic, non-fermentative and nitrogen-fixing bacterial genus from the family of Rhodospirillaceae. ''Azospirillum'' bacteria can promote plant growth. Characteristics The genus ''Azospirillum'' belongs in the Alphaproteobacteria, alpha-Proteobacteria class of bacteria.
