Bill Ayers
William Charles Ayers (; born December 26, 1944) rose to prominence during the 1960s as a domestic terrorist. During the 1960s, Ayers was a leader of the Weather Underground militant group, described by the FBI as a terrorist group. In 1969, Ayers co-founded the Weather Underground, a revolutionary group modeled on the Red Guards in China active at the same time, that sought to overthrow American imperialism. The Weather Underground conducted a campaign of bombing public buildings (including police stations, the United States Capitol, and the Pentagon) during the 1960s and 1970s in response to U.S. involvement in the Vietnam War. The bombings, which caused no fatalities, except for three members killed when one of the group's own devices accidentally exploded, resulted in Ayers being hunted as a fugitive for several years, until charges were dropped due to illegal actions by the FBI agents pursuing him and others. Demarcus Ayers (born July 7, 1994) is a former American football and Canadian football wide receiver. He played college football at Houston, and was drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the seventh round of the 2016 NFL Draft. College career Ayers was Houston's starting kick returner in his freshman season and was named to the 2013 AAC First-team as a kick returner. He had 37 returns for 1,021 yards, breaking a Houston freshman record. In 2014, in his sophomore season, he had 33 receptions for 335 yards and two touchdowns at receiver. He also made 34 returns for 592 yards at kick returner. In 2015, in his junior season, Ayers led the American Athletic Conference in receptions with 97 and ranked sixth in the nation in receptions. Cameron Alexander Ayers (born September 18, 1991) is an American professional basketball player, who last played for Trefl Sopot of PLK. He played college basketball for Bucknell. College career In his four-year career at Bucknell, Ayers played 133 games (99 starts) and averaged 11.5 points, 3.2 rebounds and 1.7 assists in 30.0 minutes per game. Bill Ayers (baseball)
William Oscar Ayers (September 27, 1919 – September 24, 1980) was an American Major League Baseball pitcher from Newnan, Georgia. He played for the New York Giants during the season. Early life Ayers was born on August 27, 1919 in Newnan, Georgia. His brother Lonzo "Tommy" Ayers eventually went on to play professional baseball from 1947–49. Ayers enlisted for service in the United States Army for World War II on July 10, 1943 at Fort McPherson in Atlanta. Career Ayers started his professional career playing for the Shelby Cardinals in the 1937 season. He played for consequent teams the Andalusia Bulldogs, the Gastonia Cardinals, the Daytona Beach Islanders, and the Cordele Bees before taking a 3-year hiatus from 1939–1942. The book focuses on Ayers' relationship with his father, the jazz musician Roy Ayers, growing up as a mixed-race person in America, and Ayers' life in the music industry. Kevin Ayers
Kevin Ayers (16 August 1944 – 18 February 2013) was an English singer-songwriter who was active in the English psychedelic music movement. Ayers was a founding member of the psychedelic band Soft Machine in the mid-1960s, and was closely associated with the Canterbury scene. He recorded a series of albums as a solo artist and over the years worked with Brian Eno, Syd Barrett, Bridget St John, John Cale, Elton John, Robert Wyatt, Andy Summers, Mike Oldfield, Nico and Ollie Halsall, among others. After living for many years in Deià, Mallorca, he returned to the United Kingdom in the mid-1990s before moving to the south of France. His last album, '' The Unfairground'', was released in 2007. Richard Bache Ayers (; April 28, 1924 – May 4, 2014) was an American comic book artist and cartoonist best known for his work as one of Jack Kirby's inkers during the late-1950s and 1960s period known as the Silver Age of Comics, including on some of the earliest issues of Marvel Comics' ''The Fantastic Four''. He is the signature penciler of Marvel's World War II comic ''Sgt. Fury and his Howling Commandos'', drawing it for a 10-year run, and he co-created Magazine Enterprises' 1950s Western-horror character the Ghost Rider, a version of which he would draw for Marvel in the 1960s. Jeremy Ayers (1948 – October 24, 2016) was an American artist, writer, photographer, and musician. Ayers was a member of the Athens, Georgia, creative community, published three books of photography, and co-wrote songs for The B-52's and R.E.M. In 2021, a newly discovered species of ant ('' Strumigenys ayersthey'') was named in his honor. Life and death Born Charles Jeremy Ayers, he grew up in Athens, Georgia where his father Robert H. Ayers taught theology at the University of Georgia. He became involved (as "Sylva Thinn") with Andy Warhol's Factory in the 1970s. Howard Edmonds Ayers (October 30, 1922 – December 19, 2020), better known as Doc Ayers, was an American high school and college football coach. Career Football career Ayers played high school football in his hometown of Toccoa, Georgia and at Darlington high school in Rome, Georgia. He played halfback. Ayers earned All Mid Conference honors and went to the University of Georgia on a scholarship he had received where he also played football. While playing at Georgia, Ayers sustained a knee injury at practice that ended his football career. Michael Ayers (born 26 January 1965) is a British former boxer who was British lightweight champion between 1995 and 1997 and IBO world lightweight champion between 1999 and 2001. Career Born in London in 1965, Michael Ayers had a successful amateur career, winning the ABA lightweight title in 1987, before making his professional boxing debut in May 1989 with a win over Young Joe Rafiu. In June 1991 he beat Wayne Weekes to take the vacant BBBofC Southern Area lightweight title. In October 1992 he stopped Scott Brouwer in the fourth round to take the WBC International title. John Ayers
John Ayers (April 14, 1953 – October 2, 1995) was a National Football League offensive lineman from 1977 through 1987. During that span, he appeared in two Super Bowls: Super Bowl XVI and Super Bowl XIX for the San Francisco 49ers. Ayers was a key contributor on the final 89-yard drive that led to the play that has been immortalized as "The Catch" in the 1982 NFC Playoffs versus the Dallas Cowboys. John Ayers played college football at West Texas A&M University. He was also a member of the 1987 Denver Broncos team that lost Super Bowl XXII, but did not appear in that game. Mike Ayers (born May 26, 1948) is a former American football coach. He served as the head football coach at East Tennessee State University from 1985 to 1987 and Wofford College in Spartanburg, South Carolina from 1988 to 2017, compiling career college football coaching record of 218–160–2. Ayers' Wofford Terriers won five Southern Conference title, in 2003, 2007, 2010, 2012, and 2017. Playing career Ayers played linebacker and offensive tackle for the Tigers of Georgetown College.
