Augmented Reality
Augmented reality (AR) is an interactive experience that combines the real world and computer-generated content. The content can span multiple sensory modalities, including visual, auditory, haptic, somatosensory and olfactory. AR can be defined as a system that incorporates three basic features: a combination of real and virtual worlds, real-time interaction, and accurate 3D registration of virtual and real objects. The overlaid sensory information can be constructive (i.e. additive to the natural environment), or destructive (i.e. masking of the natural environment). This experience is seamlessly interwoven with the physical world such that it is perceived as an immersive aspect of the real environment. In this way, augmented reality alters one's ongoing perception of a real-world environment, whereas virtual reality completely replaces the user's real-world environment with a simulated one. Augmented reality is largely synonymous with mixed reality. There is also overlap ...

Augmentation (geometry)
In geometry, a Johnson solid is a strictly convex polyhedron each face of which is a regular polygon. There is no requirement that each face must be the same polygon, or that the same polygons join around each vertex. An example of a Johnson solid is the square-based pyramid with equilateral sides ( ); it has 1 square face and 4 triangular faces. Some authors require that the solid not be uniform (i.e., not Platonic solid, Archimedean solid, uniform prism, or uniform antiprism) before they refer to it as a “Johnson solid”. As in any strictly convex solid, at least three faces meet at every vertex, and the total of their angles is less than 360 degrees. Since a regular polygon has angles at least 60 degrees, it follows that at most five faces meet at any vertex. The pentagonal pyramid () is an example that has a degree-5 vertex. Although there is no obvious restriction that any given regular polygon cannot be a face of a Johnson solid, it turns out that the faces of Johns ...

Mankind Divided
''Deus Ex: Mankind Divided'' is an action role-playing video game developed by Eidos Montréal and published worldwide by Square Enix in August 2016 for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Versions for Linux and macOS systems were released in 2016 and 2017, respectively. It is the fourth game in the '' Deus Ex'' series, and a sequel to the 2011 game '' Deus Ex: Human Revolution''. The gameplay—combining first-person shooter, stealth and role-playing elements—features exploration and combat in environments connected to the main hub of Prague and quests which grant experience and allow customization of the main character's abilities with Praxis Kits. Conversations between characters have a variety of responses, with options in conversations and at crucial story points affecting how events play out. Players can complete Breach, a cyberspace-set challenge mode, in addition to the main campaign. Breach was later released as a free, standalone product. Set two ...

Augmentation (music)
In Western music and music theory, augmentation (from Late Latin ''augmentare'', to increase) is the lengthening of a note or the widening of an interval. Augmentation is a compositional device where a melody, theme or motif is presented in longer note-values than were previously used. Augmentation is also the term for the proportional lengthening of the value of individual note-shapes in older notation by coloration, by use of a sign of proportion, or by a notational symbol such as the modern dot. A major or perfect interval that is widened by a chromatic semitone is an augmented interval, and the process may be called augmentation. Augmentation in composition A melody or series of notes is ''augmented'' if the lengths of the notes are prolonged; augmentation is thus the opposite of diminution, where note values are shortened. A melody originally consisting of four quavers (eighth notes) for example, is augmented if it later appears with four crotchets (quarter notes) instead. ...

Augmented Matrix
In linear algebra, an augmented matrix is a matrix obtained by appending the columns of two given matrices, usually for the purpose of performing the same elementary row operations on each of the given matrices. Given the matrices and , where A = \begin 1 & 3 & 2 \\ 2 & 0 & 1 \\ 5 & 2 & 2 \end , \quad B = \begin 4 \\ 3 \\ 1 \end, the augmented matrix (''A'', ''B'') is written as (A, B) = \left begin 1 & 3 & 2 & 4 \\ 2 & 0 & 1 & 3 \\ 5 & 2 & 2 & 1 \end\right This is useful when solving systems of linear equations. For a given number of unknowns, the number of solutions to a system of linear equations depends only on the rank of the matrix representing the system and the rank of the corresponding augmented matrix. Specifically, according to the Rouché–Capelli theorem, any system of linear equations is inconsistent (has no solutions) if the rank of the augmented matrix is greater than the rank of the coefficient matrix; if, ...

Augmented Cognition
Augmented cognition is an interdisciplinary area of psychology and engineering, attracting researchers from the more traditional fields of human-computer interaction, psychology, ergonomics and neuroscience. Augmented cognition research generally focuses on tasks and environments where human–computer interaction and interfaces already exist. Developers, leveraging the tools and findings of neuroscience, aim to develop applications which capture the human user's cognitive state in order to drive real-time computer systems. In doing so, these systems are able to provide operational data specifically targeted for the user in a given context.D. Schmorrow and A. Kruse, “DARPA’s Augmented Cognition Program-tomorrow’s human computer interaction from vision to reality: building cognitively aware computational systems,” Human Factors and Power Plants, pp. 1–4, 2002. nline Available: http://ieeexplore.ieee.org/xpls/absall.jsp?arnumber=1042859 Three major areas of research in the ...

Breast Augmentation
Breast augmentation and augmentation mammoplasty is a cosmetic surgery technique using breast-implants and fat-graft mammoplasty techniques to increase the size, change the shape, and alter the texture of the breasts. Augmentation mammoplasty is applied to correct congenital defects of the breasts and the chest wall. As an elective cosmetic surgery, primary augmentation changes the aestheticsof size, shape, and textureof healthy breasts. The surgical implantation approach creates a spherical augmentation of the breast hemisphere, using a breast implant filled with either saline solution or silicone gel; the fat-graft transfer approach augments the size and corrects contour defects of the breast hemisphere with grafts of the adipocyte fat tissue, drawn from the person's body. In a breast reconstruction procedure, a tissue expander (a temporary breast implant device) is sometimes put in place and inflated with saline to prepare (shape and enlarge) the recipient site (implant poc ...

Augmentation Ideal
In algebra, an augmentation ideal is an ideal that can be defined in any group ring. If ''G'' is a group and ''R'' a commutative ring, there is a ring homomorphism \varepsilon, called the augmentation map, from the group ring R /math> to R, defined by taking a (finiteWhen constructing , we restrict to only finite (formal) sums) sum \sum r_i g_i to \sum r_i. (Here r_i\in R and g_i\in G.) In less formal terms, \varepsilon(g)=1_R for any element g\in G, \varepsilon(r) = r for any element r\in R, and \varepsilon is then extended to a homomorphism of ''R''-modules in the obvious way. The augmentation ideal is the kernel of \varepsilon and is therefore a two-sided ideal in ''R'' 'G'' is generated by the differences g - g' of group elements. Equivalently, it is also generated by \, which is a basis as a free ''R''-module. For ''R'' and ''G'' as above, the group ring ''R'' 'G''is an example of an ''augmented'' ''R''-algebra. Such an algebra comes equipped with a ring homomorph ...

Augmentation (algebra)
In algebra, an augmentation of an associative algebra ''A'' over a commutative ring ''k'' is a ''k''-algebra homomorphism A \to k, typically denoted by ε. An algebra together with an augmentation is called an augmented algebra. The kernel of the augmentation is a two-sided ideal called the augmentation ideal of ''A''. For example, if A =k /math> is the group algebra of a finite group ''G'', then :A \to k,\, \sum a_i x_i \mapsto \sum a_i is an augmentation. If ''A'' is a graded algebra which is connected, i.e. A_0=k, then the homomorphism A\to k which maps an element to its homogeneous component of degree 0 is an augmentation. For example, :k to k, \sum a_ix^i \mapsto a_0 is an augmentation on the polynomial ring In mathematics, especially in the field of algebra, a polynomial ring or polynomial algebra is a ring (which is also a commutative algebra) formed from the set of polynomials in one or more indeterminates (traditionally also called variables ... k /math>.
