Dave Attell
David Attell (born January 18, 1965) is an American stand-up comedian, actor and writer best known as the host of Comedy Central's ''Insomniac with Dave Attell'', which earned him a cult following. His work has drawn admiration from many comedians. Early life Attell was born in the New York City borough of Queens to a Jewish family. He was raised in Rockville Centre, New York, on Long Island. He graduated from South Side High School. After graduating from New York University in 1987 with a degree in communications, Attell began performing at open-mic nights. Career Attell's first appearance on television was in 1988 on VH1's ''Stand-Up Spotlight,'' which also featured early appearances by Lewis Black, Margaret Cho, Jeff Garlin, Jay Mohr and Wanda Sykes. Monte Attell
Monte Attell (July 28, 1885 – November 11, 1960), born in the Knob Hill neighborhood of San Francisco, California, United States, was an American boxer who took the vacant World Bantamweight title on June 19, 1909 by defeating the 1904 bantamweight title holder Frankie Neil. He held the title until February 22, 1910. In his career he faced world bantamweight champion Jimmy Reagan and the lesser known Danny Webster in title defenses, and after losing his title, Frankie Britt, and champions Johnny Kilbane, and Joe Lynch. Early life and career Attell was born on July 18, 1885 to a struggling Jewish family that, by one account, eventually had eighteen children. Abe Attell
Abraham Washington Attell (February 22, 1883 – February 7, 1970), often referred to by newspapers as "The Little Hebrew", was an American boxer who became known for his record-setting, six year consecutive reign as World Featherweight Champion from 1906 to 1912, and his nearly consecutive ten-year reign starting in 1902. Said to be a friend of the gangster Arnold Rothstein, Attell was charged with game fixing in the Black Sox Scandal in 1919, but the charges were dismissed before trial. He also was suspected of other infractions including fixing fights, and using drugs during a fight. Life and career Attell was born in San Francisco, California, the son of Jewish parents. Many sources give his year of birth as 1884, but in an article published in the October 1961 issue of ''Cavalier'' magazine, he stated that he had turned 78 that year.
