Harlequin
Harlequin (; it, Arlecchino ; lmo, Arlechin, Bergamasque dialect, Bergamasque pronunciation ) is the best-known of the ''zanni'' or comic servant characters from the Italian language, Italian ''commedia dell'arte'', associated with the city of Bergamo. The role is traditionally believed to have been introduced by Zan Ganassa in the late 16th century, was definitively popularized by the Italian actor Tristano Martinelli in Paris in 1584–1585, and became a stock character after Martinelli's death in 1630. The Harlequin is characterized by his checkered costume. His role is that of a light-hearted, nimble, and Tricky slave, astute servant, often acting to thwart the plans of his master, and pursuing his own love interest, Columbina, with wit and resourcefulness, often competing with the sterner and melancholic Pierrot. Arlequin (band)
are a five-piece Japanese visual kei rock band, formed in 2013 in Tokyo. History The formation of Arlequin was associated with the aspiration to be a band of a new generation of Nagoya kei, a dark subgenre of visual kei that emerged in the early nineties. Bands such as Kuroyume, Rouage and Laputa served as models. The band's name corresponds to the French term for harlequin, a clownish stage character whose origins are often located in the theatrical tradition of the Italian commedia dell'arte. According to the members' own statements, it was chosen to give the band's image a touch of the "eccentric" and "toxic." Arlequin's beginnings were crowned with quick success: Their first single ''Arlequin'' (2013) reached #7 on the Oricon Singles Chart, and within a year of its formation, the band managed to sell out a concert at Shibuya Public Hall. ''Los Arlequíns'' (Spanish for "The Harlequins") was a Mexican professional wrestling group, called a stable, who worked as a ''rudo'' (term used for wrestlers who portray the "Bad guys") faction. All members of the group started out as masked wrestlers, but several members lost their masks before the group was disbanded. History Los Arlequíns was a wrestling "concept" team, similar to the concept of a boy band, where several wrestlers are joined up and given a common ring identity; in this case all members of the group were based on the Harlequin character. Louis (Jean Baptiste) Cahuzac (12 July 1880 – 9 August 1960) was a French people, French clarinetist and composer. Cahuzac was an outstanding performer and one of the few clarinetists who made a career as a soloist in the first part of the 20th century. Life and career Louis Cahuzac was born in Quarante, in Languedoc, in the south of France. His teachers were Felix Pagès in Toulouse conservatoire and Cyrille Rose in the Paris Conservatory.
