Area Codes 702 And 725
Area codes 702 and 725 are telephone area codes in the North American Numbering Plan (NANP) for Clark County, including Las Vegas, in the U.S. state of Nevada. Area code 702 was one of the original North American area codes established in October 1947, and serviced the entire state of Nevada until 1998, when it was reduced to Las Vegas and the surrounding area. In 2014, area code 725 was added as an overlay plan covering the same area. History 702 was the sole area code for all of Nevada until December 12, 1998. On that date, almost all of the state outside Clark County, including Reno and Carson City, was assigned area code 775. Nevada's explosive growth in the second half of the 20th century, and the corresponding expansion of telephone service, would have made a second area code a must in any event. However, the split was hastened by the proliferation of cell phones and pagers, particularly in Las Vegas, Reno, and Carson City. The split followed rumors that area code 777, cor ...

Area Code
A telephone numbering plan is a type of numbering scheme used in telecommunication to assign telephone numbers to subscriber telephones or other telephony endpoints. Telephone numbers are the addresses of participants in a telephone network, reachable by a system of destination code routing. Telephone numbering plans are defined in each of the administrative regions of the public switched telephone network (PSTN) and in private telephone networks. For public numbering systems, geographic location typically plays a role in the sequence of numbers assigned to each telephone subscriber. Many numbering plan administrators subdivide their territory of service into geographic regions designated by a prefix, often called an area code or city code, which is a set of digits forming the most-significant part of the dialing sequence to reach a telephone subscriber. Numbering plans may follow a variety of design strategies which have often arisen from the historical evolution of individual ...

Slot Machine
A slot machine (American English), fruit machine (British English) or poker machine (Australian English and New Zealand English) is a gambling machine that creates a game of chance for its customers. Slot machines are also known pejoratively as one-armed bandits because of the large mechanical levers affixed to the sides of early mechanical machines and the games' ability to empty players' pockets and wallets as thieves would. A slot machine's standard layout features a screen displaying three or more reels that "spin" when the game is activated. Some modern slot machines still include a lever as a skeuomorphic design trait to trigger play. However, the mechanics of early machines have been superseded by random number generators, and most are now operated using buttons and touchscreens. Slot machines include one or more currency detectors that validate the form of payment, whether coin, cash, voucher, or token. The machine pays out according to the pattern of symbols display ...

Area Codes 442 And 760
Area code 760 is a California telephone area code that was split from area code 619 on March 22, 1997. Area code 442 is an overlay of 760 that became effective on November 21, 2009. It encompasses much of the southeastern and southernmost portions of California. The area includes Imperial, Inyo, and Mono counties, as well as portions of San Diego, Riverside, San Bernardino, Los Angeles and Kern counties. History Area code 760 was split from 619 in 1997, which in turn had been split from area code 714 in 1982. Within a decade of its creation, however, the proliferation of cell phones and pagers left 760 strained to the point that a new area code was needed for the area. The initial plan was a further area code split, with the San Diego and Imperial portions moving to a new 442 area code. However, this met with protests from businesses who did not want to change their numbers for the second time in a decade. Ultimately, the California Public Utilities Commission decided that 442 ...

List Of NANP Area Codes
The North American Numbering Plan (NANP) divides the territories of its members into geographic numbering plan areas (NPAs). Each NPA is identified by one or more numbering plan area codes (''NPA codes'', or ''area codes''), consisting of three digits that are prefixed to each local telephone number having seven digits. Numbering plan areas may be assigned multiple area codes to provide adequate numbering resources, in which case the local numbering plan is called an overlay. Area codes are also assigned for non-geographic purposes. The rules for numbering NPAs do not permit the digits ''0'' and ''1'' as the leading digit, which also applies for central office codes.AT&T (1955) ''Notes on Distance Dialing'' NPAs with ''9'' as the second digit are reserved for future format expansion. Area codes with two identical trailing digits are considered easily recognizable codes (ERC), which are reserved, or used for systemwide services. Area codes in numerical order 200–299 300–399 ...

Ten-digit Dialing
Ten-digit dialing is a telephone dialing procedure in the countries and territories that are members of the North American Numbering Plan (NANP). It is the practice of including the area code of a telephone number when dialing to initiate a telephone call. When necessary, the ten-digit number may be prefixed with the trunk code ''1'', which is referred to as ''1+10-digit dialing'' or ''national format''. History The implementation and expansion of the North American Numbering Plan between 1947 and 1992 preserved a long-standing practice in the United States and Canada that callers should only need to dial the local seven-digit telephone number when placing a call within the caller's exchange area or within the home numbering plan area (NPA). In seven-digit dialing. callers dialed the three-digit central office code and the four-digit station number of the telephone subscriber to reach in the same numbering plan area. Dialing of an area code before the telephone number, referred to ...

Area Code 775
Area code 775 is a Nevada telephone area code in the North American Numbering Plan. It was split from area code 702 on December 12, 1998, and covers the entire state except for Clark County, which retained area code 702 after the split. Major cities in this area code include Reno, Carson City, Elko and Pahrump. While it appears to be rural, more than 80 percent of its numbers are located in the far western portion, around Reno and Carson City. Prior to the creation of 775, area code 702 had served all of Nevada for 51 years. The state's dramatic growth in the second half of the 20th century, and the corresponding growth in telephone service, would have made a second area code a must in any event. However, the proliferation of cell phones, pagers, and fax machines, particularly in Las Vegas, Reno and Carson City, hastened the need for the expansion of Nevada's number pool. Despite Reno and Carson City's continued growth, 775 is nowhere near exhaustion. Under the most recent p ...

North American Numbering Plan
The North American Numbering Plan (NANP) is a telephone numbering plan for twenty-five regions in twenty countries, primarily in North America and the Caribbean. This group is historically known as World Zone 1 and has the international calling code ''1''. Some North American countries, most notably Mexico, do not participate in the NANP. The NANP was originally devised in the 1940s by the American Telephone and Telegraph Company (AT&T) for the Bell System and the independent telephone operators in North America. The goal was to unify the diverse local numbering plans that had been established in the preceding decades and prepare the continent for direct-dialing of calls by customers without the involvement of telephone operators. AT&T continued to administer the numbering plan until the breakup of the Bell System, when administration was delegated to the North American Numbering Plan Administrator (NANPA), a service that has been procured from the private sector by the Fede ...
