In the North American Numbering Plan, telephone area code 337 covers southwestern Louisiana. It was created in 1999. Until 1999/2000, this area was the southern half of area code 318, which had covered most of Louisiana west of the Mississippi River since 1957. Prior to October 2021, area code 337 had telephone numbers assigned for the central office code 988. In 2020, ''988'' was designated nationwide as a dialing code for the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline, which created a conflict for exchanges that permit seven-digit dialing. This area code was therefore scheduled to transition to ten-digit dialing by October 24, 2021. Cade, Louisiana
Cade is a census-designated place (CDP) in St. Martin Parish, Louisiana, United States. At the 2014 census estimates, Cade had a population of 1,188; in 2019, the American Community Survey estimated its population was 1,655. With the 2020 U.S. census the population was 1874. The community is served by a single ZIP code: 70519. The community was founded and named after Captain Cade, who was the long time sheriff of New Iberia. It is now home to the Episcopal School of Acadiana, Bruce Foods, Spanish Trail Golf Course, and The Pines Ranch (Louisiana's first organic ranch). In contrast with many rural communities, Cade does not have a police station, or health center. The crime and unemployment rate are low in Cade compared to the U.S. average. Erath, Louisiana
Erath is a town in Vermilion Parish, Louisiana, United States. The population was 2,114 at the 2010 census, and 2,030 at the 2020 population estimates program. It is part of the Abbeville micropolitan statistical area. History Erath is named after August Erath (18 March 1843 - 11 September 1900) who emigrated from Switzerland to New Orleans in 1860 and was a bookkeeper in the breweries. He moved to New Iberia in 1876 and erected a brewery there. Erath was later mayor of New Iberia and began to develop land in the Erath area. Although August Erath never lived in Erath, he was close to railroad officials, which brought forth a great business venture for him. Later, Erath built a seltzer water factory in New Iberia and an ice plant in Abbeville. In 1884, he started a hardware business and purchased land located in this area. Duson is a town in Acadia and Lafayette parishes in the U.S. state of Louisiana. The town was named after Curley Duson, a sheriff of St. Landry Parish. Delcambre is a town in Iberia and Vermilion parishes in the U.S. state of Louisiana, located east of Abbeville on Louisiana Highway 14 in the Cajun Heartland of Acadiana. Church Point (french: Pointe-à-l'Église) is a town in Acadia Parish, Louisiana, United States. The population was 4,560 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Crowley Micropolitan Statistical Area. Charenton (historically french: Lieu-des-Chetimachas) is a census-designated place (CDP) in St. Mary Parish, Louisiana, United States. The population was 1,903 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Morgan City Micropolitan Statistical Area. According to legend, the community received its name from one of the earliest settlers of the region, Alexandre Frere.
