Ambridge is a borough in Beaver County, Pennsylvania, United States. Incorporated in 1905 as a company town by the American Bridge Company, Ambridge is located 16 miles (25 km) northwest of Pittsburgh, along the Ohio River. The population was 6,960 at the 2020 census. History Early history The town is near the location of Legionville, the training camp for General "Mad" Anthony Wayne's Legion of the United States. Wayne's was the first attempt to provide basic training for regular U.S. Army recruits and Legionville was the first facility established expressly for this purpose. The Harmony Society first settled the area in the early 19th century, founding the village of "Ökonomie" or Economy in 1824. Although initially successful, accumulating significant landholdings, the sect went into decline. By the end of the 19th century, only a few Harmonists remained. Ambridge Mann, sometimes called Ambridge-Horace Mann or Horace Mann-Ambridge, is a neighborhood in northwestern Gary, Indiana. It is bounded by the Grand Calumet River on the north, by Grant Street on the east, by Chase Street on the west, and by the Norfolk Southern railroad on the south. Adjacent areas include an industrial district to the north, Downtown West to the east, Tolleston to the south, and Brunswick to the west. As of 2000, Ambridge Mann had a population of 6,236, which was 96.3% African-American. Located just south of Interstate 90, the neighborhood can be seen while passing Buchanan Street. The neighborhood is home to Gary's only hospital, Methodist Northlake. Schools in Ambridge Mann include Vohr Elementary and the Martin Luther King, Jr. Academy, an alternative high school. The Town of Superior is a town in Douglas County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 2,058 at the 2000 census. The Village of Superior is located within the town. The City of Superior is located immediately north and adjacent to both the Town of Superior and the Village of Superior. Geography According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 107.8 square miles (279.1 km2), of which, 106.2 square miles (275.1 km2) of it is land and 1.6 square miles (4.0 km2) of it (1.45%) is water. The Nemadji River flows, roughly diagonally, through the Town of Superior from southwest to northeast.
