Admonitor
In the Society of Jesus, an Admonitor is an advisor to the Superior General of the Society of Jesus, Superior General whose responsibility it is to warn (or admonish) the General honestly and confidentially about "what in him he thinks would be for the greater service and glory of God" [Const. N°770]. That means in any matter, whether in regard to his own person (health, spiritual life, etc.) or to his governance (exercise of authority, personal obedience, etc.) The Admonitor of the Superior General is appointed (elected) by the same General Congregation that elects the Superior General, as an expression of the "provident care which the Society exercises in regard to the Superior General" [Const. N°766]. He should be a man "familiar with God, of sound and mature judgment, well versed in the matters of the Society of Jesus, discreet and prudent, not credulous or timid" [Norms, N°379]. Giovanni Stefano Menochio
Giovanni Stefano Menochio, - , was an Italian Jesuit biblical scholar. Life Menochio was born at Padua, and entered the Society of Jesus on 25 May 1594. After the usual years of training and teaching the classics, he became professor of sacred scripture and then of moral theology at Milan; thereafter began his long life of superiorship. He was successively superior of Cremona, Milan, and Genoa, rector of the Roman College, provincial of the provinces of Milan and Rome, assistant of Italy, and admonitor (Jesuits), admonitor to the Fathers-General Vincenzo Carafa and Francesco Piccolomini (Jesuit), Francesco Piccolomini. Superior General Of The Society Of Jesus
The superior general of the Society of Jesus is the leader of the Society of Jesus, the Catholic religious order also known as the Jesuits. He is generally addressed as Father General. The position sometimes carries the nickname of the Black Pope, because of his responsibility for the largest male religious order, in contrast with the white garb of the pope. The thirty-first and current superior general is Fr Arturo Sosa, elected by the 36th General Congregation on 14 October 2016. Titles The formal title in Latin is ''Praepositus Generalis'', which may fairly be rendered as "superior general" or even, "president general". Adolfo Nicolás
Adolfo Nicolás Pachón (29 April 193620 May 2020) was a Spanish Jesuit priest of the Catholic Church. He was the 30th Superior General of the Society of Jesus from 2008 to 2016. Before being elected Superior General, he worked primarily in Japan; he taught at Sophia University in Tokyo for twenty years and then headed educational institutions in Manila from 1978 to 1984 and in Tokyo from 1991 to 1993. He led the Jesuits in Japan from 1993 to 1996 and, after four years of pastoral work in Tokyo, led the Jesuits in Asia from 2004 to 2008. Though elected Superior General for life, Nicolás, like his predecessor Peter Hans Kolvenbach, resigned, as the Jesuit constitutions permit.
