Autonomous University
An autonomous university typically refers to a university that exercises independent control over its day-to-day operations and curriculum, as opposed to a university in which the government or a government agency controls the academic programs. A university () is an institution of higher (or tertiary) education and research which awards academic degrees in several academic disciplines. ''The Nation'' is an English-language daily newspaper owned by Majid Nizami Trust and based in Lahore, Pakistan since 1986. ''Rameeza'' is the Executive Editor of ''The Nation''. She is the adopted daughter of the renowned Pakistani journalist, the late Majid Nizami (3 April 1928-26 July 2014). The European University Association (EUA) represents more than 800 institutions of higher education in 48 countries, providing them with a forum for cooperation and exchange of information on higher education and research policies. Members of the Association are European universities involved in teaching and research, national associations of rectors and other organisations active in higher education and research. EUA is the result of a merger between the ''Association of European Universities'' and the ''Confederation of European Union Rectors' Conferences''. The merger took place in Salamanca on 31 March 2001. A virtual university (or online university) provides higher education programs through electronic media, typically the Internet. Some are bricks-and-mortar institutions that provide online learning as part of their extended university courses while others solely offer online courses. They are regarded as a form of distance education.
