Decathlon
The decathlon is a combined event in Athletics (sport), athletics consisting of ten track and field events. The word "decathlon" was formed, in analogy to the word "pentathlon", from Greek language, Greek δέκα (''déka'', meaning "ten") and ἄθλος (''áthlos'', or ἄθλον, ''áthlon'', meaning "contest" or “prize”). Events are held over two consecutive days and the winners are determined by the combined performance in all. Performance is judged on a points system in each event, not by the position achieved. The decathlon is contested mainly by male athletes, while female athletes typically compete in the heptathlon. Traditionally, the title of "World's Greatest Athlete" has been given to the person who wins the decathlon. This began when Gustav V of Sweden told Jim Thorpe, "Sir, you are the world's greatest athlete" after Thorpe won the decathlon at the 1912 Summer Olympics, Stockholm Olympics in 1912. Alexander Aleksandrovich Bogdanov (russian: Алекса́ндр Алекса́ндрович Богда́нов; – 7 April 1928), born Alexander Malinovsky, was a Russian and later Soviet physician, philosopher, science fiction writer, and Bolshevik revolutionary. José Manuel Arnaiz Díaz (born 15 April 1995) is a Spanish professional footballer who plays as a winger for CA Osasuna. Career Valladolid Arnaiz was born in Talavera de la Reina, Toledo, Castile-La Mancha. He made his senior debut with UD Talavera in 2013 in Tercera División at the age of 18 and, on 6 May 2013, moved to Real Valladolid in a return to youth football. Peter John Winter (born 17 January 1971 in Melbourne, Victoria) is a retired male decathlete from Australia. He first represented Australia at the World Junior Championships in 1990. He further represented at the World Student Games in 1993. He was a Commonwealth Games silver medallist in 1994 in Victoria, Canada and first broke the Australian Record with 8074 points at that competition.
