Arved Crüger
Arved Crüger (25 June 1911 – 22 March 1942) was a Luftwaffe wing commander during World War II and Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross recipient. He married the German movie actress Carola Höhn in 1941. He was appointed ''Geschwaderkommodore'' (Wing Commander) of ''Kampfgeschwader'' 77 (KG 77—77th Bomber Wing) in 1942. Crüger was posted as missing in action on 22 March 1942. Early life and career Gustav-Arved Crüger was born on 25 June 1911 in Pillau, district of Samland in East Prussia. He joined the military service as a ''Fahnenjunker'' (Officer Cadet) in the 2nd Infantry Regiment (''Infanterie-Regiment 2'') on 1 April 1931. He then attended the Military School Dresden from 1 October 1932 until 1 June 1933. Arved Deringer (4 June 1913 – 25 October 2011) was a German lawyer and politician for the CDU. He was a member of the Bundestag from 1957 and 1969. In 1952, Deringer partnered with Alfred Gleiss in a law firm that is now Gleiss Lutz. He left the firm in 1961, and partnered with Claus Tessin in Bonn. Arved Fuchs
Arved Fuchs (born 26 April 1953) is a German polar exploration, polar explorer and writer. Polar exploration On 30 December 1989, Fuchs and Reinhold Messner were the first to reach the South Pole with neither animal nor motorised help, using skis and a parasailing, parasail. That made him the first person to reach both poles by foot within one year. Many of his expeditions have taken place on water, such as his failed attempt to sail around North Pole on a traditional sailing boat (1991–1994). This boat, ''Dagmar Aaen'', is still used by Fuchs on his current expeditions. In 2000, Fuchs led an expedition to recreate Ernest Shackleton's desperate sea journey in the Voyage of the James Caird, James Caird from Elephant Island to South Georgia, and the subsequent land crossing of that island. Arved Heinrichsen
Arved Heinrichsen (''Arvydas Hainričsenas'', 23 November 1876, in Vilnius – 23 August 1900, in Vilnius), was a Lithuanian chess master. Born into a German family in Vilnius (Lithuania, then Russian Empire), he entered a gymnasium secondary school in Riga. After a short stay in St Petersburg, he left in 1896 for Berlin to study there at the faculty of medicine. In the summer semester of 1898 he continued in his studies at the university in Kiel, but in late summer he began to suffer from health problems. In September 1898 his Berlin doctor diagnosed the beginning of tuberculosis. The parents sent him, at the doctor's recommendation, to Helouan in Egypt but there he contracted malaria, which undermined his physical strength still more. Arved Carl Ludwig von Schultz (14 November 1883 at Good Rinkuln in Talsen, now Latvia – 13 December 1967 in Hilden at Düsseldorf) was a German geographer. Arved Toots (17 September 1930 – 18 January 1992) was an Estonian agronomist and breeder of Tori horses. Early life and career Arved Toots was born near Aravete in Kantküla, Albu Parish, into a farming family. He received his basic education at the Aravete school. From 1946 to 1949 he studied at the Jäneda Agricultural School, graduating as an agronomist. He began his career in 1949 as an agronomist at the machine-tractor station in Ambla. In 1955 he moved to be an agronomist at the collective farm "Murrang" (renamed in 1958 as the Aravete collective farm). In February 1970 he became the department head at the Aravete collective farm, a position he held until his retirement on 1 January 1992. Arved Viirlaid (April 11, 1922 – June 21, 2015) was an Estonian-Canadian writer. Viirlaid was born in Padise, Harju County, Estonia. Arved Viirlaid fought in the Estonian regiment in Finland during the Second World War, returning to Estonia in 1944. He escaped from Soviet-occupied Estonia, settling first in the United Kingdom, and then moving to Canada in 1953. Viirlaid published 9 novels and several collections of poetry. His first novel, ''Tormiaasta'' (The Year of Storms), was published in 1949. In 1952, he published (Graves Without Crosses), which was translated from Estonian into seven other languages.
