''Anandamela'', ''Anondamela'', or ''Anondomela'' (Bengali: আনন্দমেলা) is a children's periodical in the Bengali language published by the ABP Group from Kolkata, India. History and profile The first issue of ''Anandamela'' appeared in March 1975. Satyajit Ray designed the cover of first issue. The magazine is published on a fortnightly basis. It has been edited by several eminent personalities at different times including the poet Nirendranath Chakravarty, Ashok Kumar Sarkar, and Debasish Bandopadhyay. The present editor is Caeser Bagchi . ''Anandamela'' is one of the oldest surviving Bengali children's magazines and is published twice a month, on the fifth (previously second) and twentieth days. Many authors started writing for children through ''Anandamela''; for example, author Shirshendu Mukhopadhyay was noticed as a children's author after writing ''Manojder Adbhut Baari'', which was published in ''Anandamela'' as a serial novel. Paulami Sengupta
Paulami Sengupta (1969 – 17 October 2018) was an Indian poet and the executive editor of Bengali magazines under ABP House in India; including '' Desh'', '' Sananda'', a magazine for grown ups, ''Anandamela'', ''Unish Kuri'' and ''Anandalok''. Career Sengupta was born in Jamalpur in Bihar. Thereafter she came to Malda district. Sengupta studied in Alipore Multipurpose Girls High School, and entered in St. Xavier's College, Kolkata and Jadavpur University. She translated several literary works from English and Hindi to Bengali language. His first book of poems ''Pencil Khuki'' was published in 1997. She joined as trainee journalist in daily newspaper The Telegraph in 1994. In 2001 she became the chief sub-editor of Anandamela magazine. She also translated Asterix comics series from French to Bengali. Death Sengupta died on 17 October 2018 in Kolkata. Paulami Sengupta Memorial Foundation is an initiative taken by her family members. Shirshendu Mukhopadhyay
Shirshendu Mukhopadhyay ( bn, শীর্ষেন্দু মুখোপাধ্যায়; born 2 November 1935) is a Bengali author from India. He has written stories for both adults and children. He is known for creating the relatively new fictional sleuths Barodacharan, Fatik, and Shabor Dasgupta. Life Shirshendu Mukhopadhyay was born in Mymensingh (now in Bangladesh) on 2 November 1935. The Mukhopadhyays were originally from Bainkhara, Bikrampur. During partition his family migrated to Kolkata. He spent his childhood in Bihar and many places in Bengal and Assam accompanying his father, who worked in the railways. He passed intermediate from the Victoria College, Koch Bihar before taking a Masters in Bengali from Calcutta University. Mukhopadhyay started his career as a school teacher and is now on the staff of ''Anandabazar Patrika'' at Kolkata. He is associated with the Bengali magazine '' Desh''. Durga Puja ( bn, দুর্গা পূজা), also known as Durgotsava or Sharodotsava, is an annual Hindu festival originating in the Indian subcontinent which reveres and pays homage to the Hindu goddess Durga and is also celebrated because of Durga's victory over Mahishasur. ''The Phantom'' is an American adventure comic strip, first published by Lee Falk in February 1936. The main character, the Phantom, is a fictional costumed crime-fighter who operates from the fictional African country of Bangalla. The character has been adapted for television, film and video games. The series began with a daily newspaper strip on February 17, 1936, followed by a color Sunday strip on May 28, 1939; both are still running as of . Ekenbabu (Mr. Eken) is a Bengali detective fictional character created by author Sujan Dasgupta. The first story of Ekenbabu, ''Manhatane Moonstone'' was published in Anandamela in 1991. Character Ekenbabu is a police detective who looks like a very common Bengali man. He studied criminology in the USA. His real name is Ekendra Sen. He is eccentric, little comical and takes snuffs. He is a man with a sweet smile, a bald head and a round face. Although he is a government employee, he likes to solve cases in his own style unlike a typical investigator. Flash Gordon is the protagonist of a space adventure comic strip created and originally drawn by Alex Raymond. First published January 7, 1934, the strip was inspired by, and created to compete with, the already established ''Buck Rogers'' adventure strip. Creation The ''Buck Rogers'' comic strip had been commercially very successful, spawning novelizations and children's toys, and King Features Syndicate decided to create its own science fiction comic strip to compete with it. Feluda
Feluda, or Prodosh Chandra Mitra itter'', is a fictional detective, Private investigator created by famous Indian director and writer Satyajit Ray. Feluda resides at 21 Rajani Sen Road, Ballygunge, Calcutta, West Bengal. Feluda first made his appearance in a Bengali children's magazine called ''Sandesh'' in 1965, under the editorialship of Ray and Subhas Mukhopadhyay. His first adventure was ''Feludar Goendagiri''. René Goscinny (, ; 14 August 1926 – 5 November 1977) was a French comic editor and writer, who created the ''Astérix'' comic book series with illustrator Albert Uderzo.
