Nyakisi Adero (born 2 July 1986) is a Ugandan long distance runner. Adero stopped competing in 2011-12 after giving birth and returned to track in May 2012. She ran her first official marathon in October 2015, at the Amsterdam Marathon. Track and field is a sport that includes athletic contests based on running, jumping, and throwing skills. The marathon is a long-distance foot race with a distance of , usually run as a road race, but the distance can be covered on trail routes. World Athletics Cross Country Championships is the most important competition in international cross country running. Formerly held annually and organised by World Athletics (formerly the IAAF), it was inaugurated in 1973, when it replaced the International Cross Country Championships. It was an annual competition until 2011, when World Athletics changed it to a biennial event. The 2015 IAAF World Cross Country Championships () was the 41st edition of the global championships in cross country running, organised by the International Association of Athletics Federations. It was held in Guiyang, China on 28 March. It was the first time that the event was held in China, and the third occasion it took place in Asia (after Fukuoka in 2006, and Amman in 2009). Senior and junior races were held for men and women, with the four races having both a team and individual element. Overview The senior individual titles were won by Kenyan athletes. The Amsterdam Marathon (branded TCS Amsterdam Marathon for sponsorship reasons) is an annual marathon (42.195 km) in Amsterdam in the Netherlands since 1975. The women's marathon event at the 2016 Summer Olympics took place on 14 August on the Sambadrome. Summary At 9:30 in the morning, the race started with temperatures around . The pack stayed bunched, with Mare Dibaba, Visiline Jepkesho, Rose Chelimo, Volha Mazuronak and Tirfi Tsegaye each taking their turns in the spotlight. The racing got serious, the pack was down to seven at 30 kilometres with American Desiree Linden the closest pursuer but unable to get back with the group. Shalane Flanagan was consistently toward the back of the group, then she began to fall off. As Flanagan and Mazuronak struggled with the group, the remaining five African runners surged, the gap grew. Chelimo was the next to drop off the group. Eunice Kirwa never held the lead and Jemima Sumgong only asserted herself in the last 5 kilometers.
