New City is one of Chicago's 77 official community areas, located on the southwest side of the city in the South Side district. It contains the neighborhoods of Canaryville and Back of the Yards. The area was home to the famous Union Stock Yards until it closed in 1971, and the International Amphitheatre until it was demolished in 1999. Neighborhoods Back of the Yards Back of the Yards is an industrial and residential neighborhood so named because it was near the former Union Stock Yards, which employed thousands of European immigrants in the early 20th century. New City is an unincorporated community in Cotton Hill Township, Sangamon County, Illinois, United States, in the rural center of the state. It is part of the Springfield, Illinois Metropolitan Statistical Area. Hudson is a town in Middlesex County, Massachusetts, United States, with a total population of 20,092 as of the 2020 census. Before its incorporation as a town in 1866, Hudson was a neighborhood and unincorporated village of Marlborough, Massachusetts, and was known as Feltonville. From around 1850 until the last shoe factory burned down in 1968, Halprin 2001: p. 7 Hudson was a mill town specializing in the production of shoes and related products. NewCity Residential is a high-rise complex of seven skyscrapers in Tijuana, Baja California, Mexico. In the San Diego–Tijuana, region the buildings are increasingly being referred to as ''New City''. The complex has just begun construction and will consist of seven towers, out of which four have been built. With 27 stories, Diamond Tower is currently the tallest building in Tijuana. The other six towers will be the second-tallest buildings in Tijuana, with 24 stories. The complex is located within Tijuana's central business district, Zona Río. Reception Writing for Allmusic, critic Jason Elias wrote the album "It does sound promising, but, in all honesty, New City's fortunes seemed doomed from the start."
