Nilay Erkal (born 1 February 1999) is a Turkish long-distance swimmer. She is a member of Galatasaray Athletics. She is also studying in Pharmacy School at Yeditepe University. Nilay Erkal was born in Denizli, Turkey in 1999. Freestyle Swimming
Freestyle is a category of swimming competition, defined by the rules of the International Swimming Federation (FINA), in which competitors are subject to a few limited restrictions on their swimming stroke. Freestyle races are the most common of all swimming competitions, with distances beginning with 50 meters (50 yards) and reaching 1500 meters (1650 yards), also known as the mile. Long-distance Swimming
Long-distance swimming is distinguished from ordinary swimming in that the distances involved are longer than are typically swum in pool competitions. When a given swim calls more on endurance than on outright speed, it is the more likely to be considered a long-distance swim. Marmaris
Marmaris () is a port city and tourist resort on the Mediterranean coast, located in Muğla Province, southwest Turkey, along the shoreline of the Turkish Riviera. Although Marmaris is known for its honey, its main source of income is international tourism. The Bosphorus Cross-Continental Swim ( tr, Boğaziçi Kıtalararası Yüzme Yarışı) is an annual open water swimming event between the continents Europe and Asia held annually at Bosphorus, Istanbul, Turkey. Established in 1989, the event is organized by the Turkish Olympic Committee and sponsored by Samsung. History The event was held for the first time on July 23, 1989 and 64 men and 4 women took part.
