High Tide
Tides are the rise and fall of sea levels caused by the combined effects of the gravitational forces exerted by the Moon (and to a much lesser extent, the Sun) and are also caused by the Earth and Moon orbiting one another. Tide tables can be used for any given locale to find the predicted times and amplitude (or "tidal range"). The predictions are influenced by many factors including the alignment of the Sun and Moon, the phase and amplitude of the tide (pattern of tides in the deep ocean), the amphidromic systems of the oceans, and the shape of the coastline and near-shore bathymetry (see '' Timing''). They are however only predictions, the actual time and height of the tide is affected by wind and atmospheric pressure. Many shorelines experience semi-diurnal tides—two nearly equal high and low tides each day. Other locations have a diurnal tide—one high and low tide each day. High Tide was an English rock band, formed in 1969 by Tony Hill (guitar and vocals), Simon House (violin and keyboards), Peter Pavli (bass guitar) and Roger Hadden (drums). ''High Tide'' is the second album by High Tide. The album is slightly less heavy, with folk-influences within the band's sound. Though guitarist Tony Hill would later record with a new band under the High Tide banner, as well as releasing posthumous compilations of demos, this was the last proper album by the original group. Reception The Allmusic review by Wilson Neate awarded the album 3 stars stating "The interplay of guitarist Tony Hill and violinist Simon House is still very much at the core of High Tide's distinctive hybrid of psychedelia, prog, and hard rock, but while Hill lays down his characteristically intricate, searing guitar lines, he forgoes the sort of weighty, molten riffage that made ''Sea Shanties'' such a behemoth. Justin Tokimitsu Nozuka (born September 29, 1988) is an American singer, songwriter and actor. His debut album ''Holly'' has been released in Europe, Canada, Japan and the United States. Rory William Quigley (born January 26, 1987), known professionally as Harry Fraud, is an American record producer. Primarily a hip hop producer, Fraud began producing at an early age and began interning at a recording studio after graduating high school. First discovered by French Montana during a recording session in Chinatown in early 2009, Fraud has gone on to become a fixture in the New York underground and mixtape scene. ''The Magician's Private Library'' is the second studio album by American singer-songwriter Holly Miranda, released February 23, 2010, in the United States by XL Recordings. It was produced by TV on the Radio’s Dave Sitek and Celebration's Katrina Ford. Writing and development While performing in New York City's anti-folk scene with The Jealous Girlfriends in support of their 2007 album ''The Jealous Girlfriends'', Miranda decided to release a solo album with help from her producer friend TV on the Radio's Dave Sitek. ''The Magician's Private Library'' was recorded in 2008. Miranda's publisher Chrysalis Music financed the album, but it wasn't formally released until 2010 after Miranda was signed to XL Recordings.
