Rif
The Rif (, ), also called Rif Mountains, is a geographic region in northern Morocco. It is bordered on the north by the Mediterranean Sea and Spain and on the west by the Atlantic Ocean, and is the homeland of the Rifians and the Jebala people. This mountainous and fertile area is bordered by Cape Spartel and Tangier to the west, by Berkane and the Moulouya River to the east, by the Mediterranean to the north, and by the Ouergha River to the south. The Rif mountains are separated into the eastern Rif mountains (Nador, Driouch, Al Hoceima) and western Rif mountains (Tangier, Tetouan, Chefchaouen, Taounate). Geography Geologically, the Rif Mountains belong to the Gibraltar Arc or Alborán Sea geological region. They are an extension of the Baetic System, which includes the mountains of the southern Iberian Peninsula across the strait. Thus, the Rif Mountains are not part of the Atlas Mountain System. Chefchaouen
Chefchaouen ( ar, شفشاون, Shafshāwan, ), also known as Chaouen (), is a city in northwest Morocco. It is the chief town of the province of the same name and is noted for its buildings in shades of blue, for which it is nicknamed the "Blue City". Chefchaouen is situated just inland from Tangier and Tétouan. It was founded as a military outpost shortly before the Spanish Reconquista of Granada, and its population grew quickly with Muslim and Jewish immigrants fleeing from Spain. The economy is based on a traditional agro-pastoral system with olive and fig plantations; numerous water mills for grinding grain and olives; a handicrafts sector focusing on leather, iron, textiles, and carpentry; and summer-dominated tourism. Ajdir
Ajdir (Berber: ⴰⵊⴷⵉⵔ) is a small town in northern Morocco, on the Mediterranean coast, near Al Hoceima. Segangan (Tarifit: Azɣenɣan, ⴰⵣⵖⴻⵏⵖⴰⵏ; Arabic: أزغنغان) is a town and municipality in the province of Nador, Oriental, Morocco. It is one of the major towns of the province. Imzouren
Imzouren (Tarifit: Imzuạn, ⵉⵎⵣⵓⴰⵏ; ar, إمزورن) is a town in the north of Morocco and has an approximate population of 30,000 people. Imzouren is in the Rif mountains, near the city Al Hoceima and has nearly grown to the village Bni Bouayach. It's also close to the Souani Beach. Most of the inhabitants in Imzouren are Imazighen. The February 2004 Al Hoceima earthquake occurred near Imzouren and registered 6.3 on the moment magnitude scale. At least 564 people died there, with over 250 people wounded. The Atlas Mountains are a mountain range in the Maghreb in North Africa.
